Position Summary
The Director, Regional Workplace Strategy role is responsible for the development and leadership of a comprehensive strategy for real estate acquisitions/divestments, space optimization and utilization, workplace environment for a portfolio of 7 million square feet of property over more than 200 locations and 630 buildings throughout California with a budget of $40+ million in rental expense and operating expenses for all of PG&E. The position also directly manages a team of 10 internal employees and the activities of numerous vendors involved in real estate transactions, rental payments, portfolio and occupancy planning.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work headquarters in Oakland.
Reporting Relationship
The Director, Regional Workplace Strategy will report to the Senior Director, Corporate Real Estate.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and influence senior leaders to implement a multi-year plan for the assigned real estate portfolio, including strategy, business, financial and operational planning.
- Engage with senior leadership as a primary CRE point of contact and accountability real estate planning and execution.
- Lead the development of capital plans, budget plans and forecasts, including development and implementation of cost efficiency efforts in partnership with finance groups and vendors.
- Lead the development of CRE Information Systems selection to support strategic analysis and work processes.
- Promote continuous improvement by managing through effective process, methodology, and training.
- Identify, develop and implement processes and best practices.
- Lead the monitoring, managing the performance of vendors as it relates to areas of responsibility. Drive vendor performance, best practices, and methodologies to ensure that objectives are being met. Track their performance and provide feedback.
- Advise senior management periodically on CRESS status for company long-range planning initiatives that measure progress against agreed upon initiatives, benefits, issues resolution and service levels.
- Lead CRESS’ efforts in the developing of PG&E’s portfolio plans for the Company’s General Rate Case for the CPUC.
- Drive real estate transactions and negotiations strategy.
- Lead change and reinforce change management strategy/plans to drive consistency and adoption within the workplace.
- Develop and deliver executive-level and Board-level presentations.
- Lead the monitoring, tracking, trending and reporting process of company-wide real estate acquisition/disposition performance metrics, ensuring both accuracy of data and timeliness of reports, as well as the Safety & Shared Services “green book” review.
- Develop and manage the operating budget for real estate.

Compensation
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $159,000
Bay Area Maximum: $271,000
Background Qualifications
Minimum
- A Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Finance, Economics, Planning, Environmental Services, Planning Analysis or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 + years’ experience in a real estate, finance, consulting or planning function is required.
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience in a leadership capacity is required.
Desired
- Master’s degree or equivalent in management, strategic planning and analysis, real estate or a related technical field strongly preferred.
- Transformational leader with demonstrated ability and motivation to lead others, promote a team environment, and coach and mentor staff.
- Demonstrated experiences in leading and influencing corporate strategy development and visioning at the senior level.
