Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager to lead PG&E’s Enterprise Data Engineering team. This role will take charge in building our enterprise data & analytics capabilities, creating innovative data products and services to support business operations, analytic product teams, and internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project delivery, data architecture, data modeling, and ETL processes, combined with leadership experience and a passion for leading, developing and mentoring high performing teams

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and the Oakland General Office(OGO) at least once per week and or based on business needs.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​ This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.  

 

A reasonable salary range is:​

 

Bay Area Minimum:   $140,000

Bay Area Maximum:  $238,000   

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data engineers, ensuring high levels of engagement, performance, and professional growth.
  • Data Architecture: Direct the development and implementation of scalable, reliable, and efficient data architectures to enable analytic products.
  • Data Quality: Establish and enforce data quality standards and best practices to ensure data integrity and reliability.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders: product managers, senior leadership, business stakeholders, data scientists, analysts, and others to understand their data needs and provide solutions that drive business value.
  • Planning and Project Management: Manage data engineering projects, including planning, resource allocation, and execution, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business objectives. Partner with stakeholders to develop robust data product roadmaps.
  • Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture focused on continuous improvement to meet evolving business needs and technologies.
  • Compliance: Ensure all data engineering activities comply with relevant data protection and privacy regulations and company policies.
  • Cost Management: Responsible for managing team and project budget, ensuring that budget forecasts and actuals are closely monitored and providing variance analysis.

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience in IT-Information Technology, 8 years
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in a  leadership or managerial role with a minimum of 2 years in data engineering, data solutions architect, data management, data product management.
  • Leadership: Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Project Management/Delivery: Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, with a focus on delivering results in a fast-paced environment. Track record of successful delivering on large scale enterprise projects.
  • Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of data warehouse and business intelligence design and architecture, sql, python, and pyspark.
