Department Overview

The SAP Data and Analytics department provides data engineering services and support to all lines of businesses. The department is responsible for strategic technology planning, roadmap development, solution design, solution delivery, and solution support.

 

Position Summary

The Data Engineering Associate will support the SAP S4 HANA migration, propel program, to define how data will be stored, consumed, integrated, and managed by different IT systems. Partners with stakeholders to contribute and align with strategic direction and relevant architectures, technology standards and design patterns.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Assembles large, complex sets of data that meet non-functional and functional business requirements.
  • Builds high-performance data pipelines and prototypes that enable business use of the data.
  • Builds infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from various data sources.
  • Understands business requirements and applies them to complex software engineering and analysis.
  • Communicates (oral and written) recommendations with peers inside the department.
  • Partners with team members to understand and incorporate standards information and requirements into work procedures.
  • Identifies and analyzes to departmental standards, norms, and new goals/objectives.
  • Assists in data, design, product, and executive teams with data-related technical issues.
  • Understands the infrastructure that allows big data to be accessed and analyzed.
  • Utilizes department standard issue tracking, source control, and documentation tools.

 

 

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. 

 

The salary range for this position ranges from $80,000 to $120,000.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field of study, or equivalent experience.

 

Desired:

  • One (1) year of experience with data engineering/ETL ecosystem, such as SAP data applications
  • Experience with data engineering and data transformations via a training or apprenticeship program acceptable.
  • Experience in the SAP domain with business intelligence, data migration, reporting and analytics, and ETL.
  • Strong understanding of data engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience with SAP ERP Central Component (ECC) or SAP S4 HANA, Business Warehouse (BW), SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) or other SAP toolsets.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members and stakeholders.
