Position Summary

Principal Critical Facility Architect provides technical leadership in design, development and implementation of backup power systems, comm rooms, data/control centers and alarm system deliverables. This includes the assessment and optimization of system design and development of user requirements. Provides budgetary estimates for client and IT projects, works with other architect teams, corporate real estate and land agents on technical direction and operational feasibility of solutions that are integrated with the existing or defined IT network architecture and services standards, to meet clearly defined technical performance requirements.

Evaluates the need for new solutions, collaborates with the architect teams to create prototypes, and works with network, database, operations, technical support, and other IT departments during development and implementation to enhance system resilience and reliability.  Acts as technical lead for critical facility team, engineering team and project management teams implementing projects within the critical facility programs and client projects. All employees are responsible for performing their jobs in accordance with PG&E’s vision and values.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and an office within the service territory to be determined approximately 2 days per week based on business needs or company requirements.

  

PG&E is providing the full salary/pay range for this position. The actual amount paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The range to reasonably expect will be around the minimum and the midpoint $155,000 - $210,000. The final decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to the factors above. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.  


Bay Area Min: $155,000.00

Bay Area Max: $265,000.00

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Directs critical facility team in preparation of battery, power board, generator, facility alarming, and facility upgrades by utilizing subject-matter expertise.
  • Oversees all of the architecture and design of technology solutions supporting business requirements on projects.
  • Engages with clients to develop solutions and ensure delivery is aligned with the requirements in technical/logic design
  • Provides advanced consulting and guidance during the detailed design, build, test, and deploy phases of IT projects.
  • Ensures the successful implementation of critical facility infrastructure in complex client environments, larger scale, and cross-functional new/enhanced systems on time, in scope and within budget.
  • Leads integration of client requirement into and works with critical facility team to create system design models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to system programmer and development teams.
  • Identifies and implements process improvements at the department level.
  • Presents project scopes and budgets and makes recommendations to high level leaders for project/program approval.
  • Identifies the developmental needs of others, and coaches and mentors others to improve their knowledge or skills.
  • Partners with critical facility team to develop and maintains all technical standards, design patterns, reference architectures and roadmaps for a Reference Architecture Framework containing a broad collection of foundational services.

 

Qualifications

Minimum: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related degree, or equivalent experience
  • 10 years experience in Enterprise Network engineering design, OR Master’s degree and 8 years of experience in Enterprise Network engineering design
  • Experience with multi-tier enterprise technology environments
  • Experience in enterprise architecture environments, job-related

 

Desired:

  • Registered Professional Electrical Engineer
  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil engineering or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience in Radio systems implementation, job-related
  • Experience in team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Experience in project management, IT-Information Technology

  • PMP-Project Management Professional certification
