Position Summary 

The Expert CI/CD Product Owner will guide cross-functional Agile teams in delivering secure, scalable, automated, and business-aligned Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), DevSecOps, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Platform Engineering, and cloud automation capabilities. 

 

This role is responsible for defining product strategy, roadmaps, KPIs, and execution plans for enterprise CI/CD platforms spanning AWS, Azure, Azure Local, Kubernetes, and hybrid-cloud environments. The Product Owner will manage and prioritize product backlogs, lead value delivery, support business planning and demand management, and partner closely with engineering, operations, cyber security, platform, architecture, and business stakeholders to maximize enterprise value through automation and modernization. 

 

The role will drive enterprise-wide adoption of developer self-service capabilities, Infrastructure as Code standards, deployment automation, release management, and DevSecOps practices to improve software delivery performance, operational consistency, security, and developer productivity. 

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and Oakland, CA once per week, or more, based on business needs or company requirements.

 

Compensation

PG&E is providing the full salary/pay range for this position.  The actual amount paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location.  The range to reasonably expect will be between the minimum and midpoint listed below.  The final decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to the factors above. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

 

Bay Area Min: $132,000.00

Bay Area Mid: $179,000.00

Bay Area Max: $226,000.00

 

Job Responsibilities 

Product Ownership & Agile Leadership 

  • Lead Scrum teams as the Product Owner, ensuring alignment among business priorities, product strategy, and delivery execution. 

  • Provide vision and direction to Agile development teams and stakeholders throughout product lifecycles. 

  • Maintain a healthy, well-groomed backlog of prioritized work for delivery teams. 

  • Own major release planning and establish clear expectations for the delivery of new functionality. 

  • Understand business pain points, desired outcomes, and value drivers to clearly articulate product value. 

  • Communicate effectively with executive, business, functional, and technical stakeholders. 

  • Serve as a bridge between business, product, engineering, architecture, operations, and cybersecurity teams. 

  • Identify developmental needs of team members and mentor resources to improve their technical and functional capabilities. 

  • Analyze work plans and schedules to reallocate resources and reprioritize product investments as business needs evolve. 

 

CI/CD Platform Ownership 

  • Own the enterprise CI/CD platform strategy, roadmap, and delivery model. 

  • Define and manage product roadmaps for Azure DevOps, AWS CodePipeline, GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions, and related DevOps capabilities. 

  • Drive adoption and standardization of CI/CD pipelines across enterprise application teams. 

  • Establish enterprise standards for software build, deployment, testing, release management, and environment promotion processes. 

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce deployment risk and accelerate software delivery. 

 

Infrastructure as Code (IaC) 

  • Own Infrastructure as Code strategy, governance, and enterprise adoption. 

  • Define and maintain standards for Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation, and Ansible implementations. 

  • Develop reusable infrastructure modules, templates, and automation patterns. 

  • Drive infrastructure provisioning and environment management through automation-first approaches. 

  • Establish governance practices to ensure consistency, compliance, and security across cloud platforms. 

 

DevSecOps & Compliance 

  • Partner with Cyber Security teams to integrate security controls into CI/CD pipelines. 

  • Define and own DevSecOps capabilities including:  

  • Static Application Security Testing (SAST) 

  • Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST) 

  • Software Composition Analysis (SCA) 

  • Secrets Management and Scanning 

  • Container Security Scanning 

  • Compliance Validation Automation 

  • Ensure regulatory, compliance, and cybersecurity requirements are embedded into development and deployment workflows. 

  • Support audit readiness and enterprise security initiatives. 

 

Platform Engineering & Developer Experience 

  • Partner with Platform Engineering teams to provide developer self-service capabilities. 

  • Develop reusable deployment patterns, golden paths, and standardized platform services. 

  • Drive improvements to developer productivity and platform adoption. 

  • Establish self-service automation capabilities to accelerate application onboarding and deployment. 

  • Support internal platform-as-a-product strategies and platform engineering maturity initiatives. 

 

Multi-Cloud & Kubernetes Enablement 

  • Define and manage delivery capabilities across AWS, Azure, Azure Local, and hybrid cloud environments. 

  • Support deployment automation for Kubernetes platforms including AKS, EKS, OpenShift, and Azure Local Kubernetes. 

  • Establish consistent deployment and release strategies across multiple cloud providers. 

  • Support cloud migration, modernization, and application transformation initiatives. 

 

Release Management & Operational Excellence 

  • Define enterprise release management standards and deployment strategies. 

  • Establish deployment quality gates, automated testing requirements, rollback strategies, and release controls. 

  • Drive implementation of Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, and Continuous Deployment practices. 

  • Lead root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to improve platform reliability and user experience. 

 

Product Strategy, Governance & Business Planning 

  • Own BPD planning and support alignment between planning activities and delivery outcomes. 

  • Develop and maintain CI/CD, DevSecOps, and Platform Engineering product roadmaps. 

  • Evaluate emerging products, technologies, and industry trends to drive innovation opportunities. 

  • Develop strategies for reducing technical debt across delivery platforms and automation tools. 

  • Partner with stakeholders to manage contracts, licenses, vendor relationships, and technology investments. 

  • Support enterprise architecture and technology governance processes. 

 

Metrics & Value Realization 

  • Define, measure, track, and report KPIs for CI/CD and DevOps platforms. 

  • Monitor and report DevOps performance metrics including:  

  • Deployment Frequency 

  • Lead Time for Change 

  • Change Failure Rate 

  • Mean Time to Recovery (MTTR) 

  • Pipeline Success Rate 

  • Infrastructure as Code Adoption 

  • Release Automation Adoption 

  • Developer Productivity Metrics 

  • Drive process improvements through Lean and Agile methodologies. 

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

  • High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
  • Job-related experience, 5 years

 

Desired:

 

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience as Product Owner, Agile environment, 5 years
