Department Overview

The hardworking coworkers of Electric Engineering ensure all manners of electric engineering--including electrical standards and process safety, electrical design engineering, instrumentation testing and controls, undergrounding, electric regulatory compliance and electric investment planning--are in place to safely enable a strategic and stable workplan for our Electric Operations partners. Our organization is accountable for program planning, financial budgeting, and project execution and delivery of all electric engineering projects. Electric Engineering is comprised of approximately 2,000 coworkers.

 

The Market and Federal Compliance team is part of the Compliance Excellence department within Electric Engineering Compliance, where our vision is that together we create a compliance culture in Electric Engineering and Operations that supports and exceeds safety, reliability, customer, and regulator expectations. The Market and Federal Compliance organization provides functional area compliance oversight, support and monitoring for processes, procedures and controls intended to ensure compliance with the California Independent System Operator (CAISO), the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), and the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) regulatory requirements, standards, tariffs, and agreements. These compliance areas include:

 

  • FERC Wholesale Distribution Tariff (WDT)
  • FERC Transmission Owner Tariff
  • FERC T-Line Licensing
  • California Independent System Operator (CAISO) Open Access Transmission Tariff
  • CAISO Transmission Control Agreement and related CAISO Business Process Manuals and CAISO Maintenance Procedures
  • CAISO Annual Maintenance Review
  • NERC Operations and Planning standards
  • NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection standards

 

Position Summary

The Electric Compliance and Risk Consultant will directly support members of the Market and Federal Compliance team in their compliance areas of work. In addition, they will act as the team's Compliance Case Lead. The activities will specifically include the following:

  • Provide database development and support using Excel and SharePoint
  • Create and maintain database dashboards using Power BI
  • Maintain and update databases, perform quality checks, and assist in deliverable report outs to senior leadership
  • Provide Functional Area Case Management Lead support for managing deliverable data, assignment, and tracking to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
  • Assist in Tariff evidence data collection during Fact-Finding investigations
  • Support FERC and CAISO compliance deliverables scheduling and tracking
  • Catalog deliverable information from state and federal regulatory agencies
  • Assist in the development of data metrics and benchmarking across Functional Areas
  • Collaborate with internal and supporting external stakeholders to ensure high-quality deliverables and continuous improvement

 

The selected candidate must live within PG&E’s service territory.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

 

A reasonable salary range is:

Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area)            $90,000.00

Mid Base Salary (Bay Area)        $113,000.00

Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area)           $136,000.00

 

Minimum Base Salary (California)         $86,000.00

Mid Base Salary (California)      $107,000.00

Maximum Base Salary (California)        $129,000.00

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience 
  • 2 years of relevant experience

 

Desired qualifications:

  • 2 years' experience in database development, management, and tracking of deliverables
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power BI, and internal compliance tracking tools
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate complex data effectively to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to engage in process improvement
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted or GenAI enabled search and summarization tools
  • Ability to apply analytical reasoning and critical evaluation to AI-generated outputs and historical data sources
