Department Overview
The Community Relations Department sits within PG&E’s Corporate Affairs organization. Community Relations is responsible for the company’s charitable giving program, aligned against four focus areas reflecting the company’s True North Strategy. Those include People, Planet, Prosperity and Hometown Giving. In 2024, Community Relations, in partnership with internal stakeholders, provided charitable funding of $36 million dollars to more than 950 local, statewide and national non-profit organizations. Community Relations is also responsible for a company-wide employee giving campaign resulting in more than $7.5 million in matching gifts to causes identified by our coworkers. We also support thousands of hours in coworker volunteerism and other key internal and external community-focused initiatives. The Senior Director of Community Relations is also the Executive Director of The PG&E Corporation Foundation (Foundation), an independent 501c3 non-profit organization solely funded by PG&E Corporation.
Summary and Responsibilities:
The Community Relations Specialist, Charitable Contributions Operations will assist the Senior Director of Community Relations in a wide array of Utility and Foundation program management and operational needs. These may include, but are not limited to:
- Operational, budget management and responsible for day-to-day grantmaking activities in support of the Better Together Giving program’s focus areas of People, Planet and Prosperity and Hometown Giving.
- Lead preparation activities for Foundation Board and committee meetings, coordination with speakers and administrative assistants of Board members, tracking of deliverables prior to and following meetings, support creation of compelling presentation materials, storytelling, key messaging etc.
- Lead preparation activities for quarterly Foundation financial meetings and annual audit including gathering supporting materials to prepare Executive Director, tracking and reconciliation of documentation and agreements.
- Lead preparation activities and program management tasks associated with governance, approvals, documentation and reporting of grantmaking, including assisting in annual impact analysis and support for development and implementation of a five-year outcomes reporting strategy with a report delivery target of year end 2029.
- Manage operational activities associated with specific Utility and Foundation grants, which might include interacting with non-profit organizations, setting up visits, arranging for tours, coordinating events, check presentations, media availabilities etc. Coordinating guestlists, confirming attendees and hosting guests.
- Additional duties as determined based on the needs of the business and the candidate’s interest areas and existing relationships.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and Oakland General Office once per week and based on business needs.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.
This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $118,000
Bay Area Maximum: $188,000
Qualifications/Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in corporate philanthropy, non-profit administration, community relations, corporate governance/secretary’s office, or related fields.
- Capable of quickly developing subject matter expertise on charitable operational matters in order to provide guidance to team members.
- Skilled in working with numbers, balancing budgets, tracking metrics, and developing reports etc.
- Capable of quickly developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong professional presence and ability to articulately speak to Utility and Foundation operational matters.
- Organized and meticulous, capable of detailed document review, analysis and development of compelling recommendations that align with business priorities.
