Department Overview

Operations Support is dedicated to creating cross-commodity consistency and standards in Operations. The team provides support services guided by best practices and a relentless pursuit for improvement. It has single points of accountability for Work Management & Resource Planning, Execution Support, Business Operations & Process Improvement, PG&E Academy, and Enterprise Public Works. Operations Support is comprised of approximately 1,000 coworkers.

This position is within the Business Operations & Process Improvement organization, specifically Reporting & Analytics, which supports Gas and Electric Operations with Benchmarking, Performance Management, Data Architecture and Reporting & Analytics.

 

Position Summary

This position is headquartered in Oakland, CA. This position is currently “hybrid” with an expectation of being in the office once a month (subject to change).

 

Functions as a Data Engineer and Technical Program Manager within the Data Architecture, Tools & Automation (DATA) organization in Operations Support. Works with the line of business, representing the end users and business process owners in business system requirements, implementations and support. Defines user system requirements, provides user support, coordinates user acceptance testing of new tools and gathers users feedback. Performs feasibility analysis, develops project scope, and provides recommendations on alternative solutions, project strategy and deliverable prioritization.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

A reasonable salary range is:

Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area)                       $ 80,000.00

Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area)          $ 120,000.00

OR

Minimum Base Salary (California)                      $ 76,000.00

Maximum Base Salary (California)         $ 114,000.00

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Handle moderately complex user issues that arise with supported systems and tools. Address most calls independently, escalates the more complex problems to senior peers.
  • Analyze and document moderate complexity business processes and information needs.
  • Coordinate requirements and deliverables with senior team members.
  • Provide timely and professional responses to business partners or user inquiries. Escalate as appropriate.
  • Participate on teams that develop requirements for the business needs solution.
  • Contribute to business case development.
  • Participate in UATs and perform quality reviews of test results.
  • May perform various additional activities, such as user based application testing, scope presentations, user support, etc.
  • May be mentored by a Senior BSS.
  • Analyze and propose solutions with some supervision.
  • Participate in UATs and perform quality reviews of test results.

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • BA/BS in Business, Engineering, Computer Science/Information Systems, etc. or equivalent work experience.
  • 2 years of experience in similar or related job functions (Business, IT or Engineering fields) that could be substituted by an advanced degree.
  • Continuous education in IT and business specific areas.

 

Desired:

  • 3+ years of experience in similar or related job functions (Business or Information Technology) that could be substituted by an advanced degree.
  • Participation in projects of high complexity.
  • Knowledgeable about the business requirements process.
  • Detail oriented, analytical, good oral and written communication skills.
  • General understanding of the utility business.
  • Ability to work with different teams across disciplines and levels.
  • Understands general business processes of department(s) supported.
  • Experience with traditional and cloud RDMBS solutions
