Position Summary

The Enterprise Strategy & Architecture (ES&A) organization is a centralized architecture group within Information Technology (IT) department. The group supports PG&E’s safety, reliability and affordability goals under the architecture mandate of Reuse, Rationalize, Optimize, and Standardize.

 

The Business System Specialist, Senior will report to the Manager of the Technology Portfolio Management team

 

Functions as a liaison between IT and other functional areas (FA), representing the end users and business process owners in business system requirements, implementations and support. Defines user system requirements, provides user support, coordinates user acceptance testing of new tools and gathers users’ feedback. Performs feasibility analysis, develops project scope, and provides recommendations on alternative solutions, project strategy and deliverable prioritization. This role will support our FA teams by partnering with them and other IT teams to support our IT demand management processes and driving activities that will improve the IT and ES&A relationship with those functional areas assigned.

 

The ideal candidate will have a penchant for technology and its role in business processes as well as the ability to learn new and emerging technologies as they apply to PG&E. You will be able to bring a blend of curiosity and an ‘art of the possible’ mindset.  You should also have strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Experience working with or in the utility industry is highly desirable but not required.


PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. We would not anticipate that the individual hired into this role would land at or near the top half of the range described below, but the decision will be dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $102,000.00

Bay Area Maximum: $152,000.00

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

Job Responsibilities

  • Understand the current and future business environment of the organization and effectively anticipate, identify and meet the business needs.
  • Anticipate concerns and questions, and provide timely and professional communications.
  • Support our IT Demand Management processes that are led by ES&A by working with requesters for new technology projects to ensure alignment with our Strategic roadmaps and technology strategy overall as developed by our architecture team.
  • Works with and leverages relationships with Directors and Managers across functions / PG&E to build or maintain our ES&A and IT relationships with our internal functional areas.
  • Provide consulting in business and user needs.
  • May write manuals, Requests for Change, procedures.
  • May provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced employees.
  • Identify, propose and influence solutions to moderate-to-complex business problems.
  • Handle moderate to complex user issues that arise with supported systems and tools. Address most calls independently; escalate the more complex problems to senior peers.
  • Contribute to business case development.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Job-related experience, 4 years
  • Experience in project participation, medium complexity


Desired:

  • Graduate Degree or equivalent experience
  • Department-related experience
  • Experience in business analysis, 5 years
  • Experience in IT-Information Technology, 5 years
  • Experience in project participation, high complexity
  • Experience in PowerApp and/or PowerBI development
  • Experience working in or supporting technology initiatives and/or strategy, especially in the utility industry.
