Department Overview

The Business Finance team provides critical financial support to the core organizational units of PG&E. This support includes financial analysis; budgeting, planning, and forecasting; monitoring, controlling, and accounting; operational performance reporting and analysis; and strategic planning and analysis. These services are critical to achieving the company's strategic, operational, and financial objectives.

Position Summary

The Business Finance Analyst will be responsible for working with various directors and managers within a functional area partner organization on a business decision support basis, to assist them with their budget, planning and other finance and accounting needs. You will work closely with the Business Finance Extended Leadership team to define and achieve the team's strategic objectives. You will have good verbal and written communication skills, strong analytical and quantitative skills, a background in finance or accounting, and poised in working with various levels of co-workers. You will demonstrate strong organizational and planning skills, initiative and enthusiasm, and strong interpersonal skills. You will integrate with the business organization to influence and drive cross team collaboration.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and the Oakland General Office in-person 2-3 days per week, on average or based on business needs or company requirements.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of the job posting. This salary range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​ This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.  

 

Bay Area: $78,000 - 106,700

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Supports and provides advice on the following major financial endeavors:
    • Integrated Planning Process including PCC Planning, Target Setting, and Order Detail Planning; S1 and S2 Process; and Program Forecasts and Trends.
  • Provides forecasts, tracks forecast accuracy and explores means of improving forecast accuracy.
  • Creates the Monthly Expense & Capital Spending (ECS) program variance explanations and program forecasts.
  • Analyzes and explains revenue or cost variances.
  • Interprets data, reports, and records for managers/stakeholders.
  • Manages PCC cost management and headcount reporting.
  • Performs data quality assurance to ensure accurate data is used in reports, databases, and files.
  • Tracks existing metrics that provide data for process measurement, business operations or risk assessment.
  • Communicates (oral and written) with peers inside and outside of the department, providing information or exchanging data.

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Business, or Finance or equivalent work experience
  • 1 year of analytical experience in business, mathematics, statistics, engineering or related field

  • Competency in interpreting and applying understanding of key financial indicators to make better business decisions.
  • Developing and delivering multimode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.

  • goals.
