Department Overview
The Enterprise Project Governance (EPG) department supports decision-making and leads governance processes for major projects ($25M and greater) and programs across PG&E on behalf of external customers and shareholders. Enterprise Project Governance advises the Gate Review Board (GRB) and the Senior Officer Team (SOT), comprised of company officers and directors, on key considerations associated with major projects and programs, including safety, risk reduction, extent of condition, environmental and community impacts, long-term financial forecasting, and alignment with company objectives. The GRB governs about $2B in capital spend annually, and total project lifecycle costs under GRB authority are $17.5B. Enterprise Project Governance also facilitates reviews of Board-level projects ($250M and greater).
In addition, Enterprise Project Governance develops performance metrics and visual controls for the effective execution of project-related capital investment plans to improve outcomes for our customers and reduce risk on the system. Monthly performance, performance metrics and recovery plans are reviewed by the Senior Leadership Team. The department is responsible for driving project management best practices across the company.
Position Summary
This position supports a monthly standardized reporting process as well as performance monitoring for the portfolio of major projects and programs to track progress and performance on cost, schedule, and scope through the Project Executive Reports (PER). The nature of the work requires a high attention to detail, ability to follow up and resolve issues with cross-functional contributors, and an understanding of project management metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs). The position has broad exposure to largest projects and business issues across PG&E. This position also helps with improvements in the reporting process, develops dashboards and other visual management materials to present portfolio performance, and conducts trainings.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned location based on business need. Location will be Oakland.
PG&E is providing the salary range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of the job posting. This salary range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
Bay Area – $114,000 - $162,800
Job Responsibilities
- Monthly review of projects and programs performance through the PER
- Supports analysis and reporting for the major project and program portfolio, including actual production and material reviews with leaders.
- Performs complex quality assurance on data to ensure accurate data is used in reports, and resolve issues as needed
- Assists in developing and tracking metrics that provide data on cost estimation accuracy, current year financial performance, and other KPIs
- Presents findings and makes recommendations to management or others within organization
- Assists with publication of Enterprise Project Management communications and organizational change management.
- Conduct training on new reporting tools or templates used by the EPG organization.
- Assist with the production of the Major Projects and Strategic Program Center MOR materials
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Communications or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
- Job-related experience, 6 years
Desired:
- Experience working at a utility or in the energy industry is preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suit, Unifier, SAP, Analysis for Office, Power BI
- Proficiency in Power Platform including Power Apps and Power Automate, Sharepoint lists and libraries, SQL Server administration and development, Access Database, Python
- Experience in machine learning and data modeling
- Knowledge in developing functional specifications which act as a bridge between business and technology.
- Experience of different analytical methods, approaches, and tactics
- Demonstrated strong knowledge of project management best practices and project financial controls.
- High attention to detail
- Excellent research and issue resolution skills
- Ability to develop dashboards to provide insights on portfolio/ projects and programs performance.
