Department Overview

 

The Coworkers of Electric Operations ensure the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.

 
Position Summary
Provides oversight on contractors' construction activities. Acts as liaisons between the contractor and all other internal workgroups to promote collaboration. Oversees quality control, quality assurance and fosters a safe work environment.

 

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. 

 

Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

 

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $48.08 to $65.87.  
 

Job Responsibilities

  • Acts as a liaison between construction activities of contractors and engineering departments in relation to material and/or design deficiencies. Becomes adept at tracking compliance documentation for construction projects. Communicates contractor activities with all of the various workgroups performing work in substation during construction.
  • Considers and documents compliance requirements of construction projects. Directly interacts with contractors on substation electrical or civil construction projects at a construction worksite. Gains knowledge of PG&E standards and procedures and applies them to projects through quality control and assurance efforts. Learns to read and interpret electrical and/ or civil drawings and to record as-built information on construction drawings.
  • Oversees safety tailboards for contractors. Participates in onsite tailboards or group discussions to ensure there is a coordinated effort to ensure the safety and productivity of all workgroups and to minimize changes to scope, cost or schedule. Performs range of moderately complex inspection tasks under the support and guidance of the Sr. and Lead Inspectors. Reads and interprets electrical and/or civil drawings and records as-built information on construction drawings.
  • Reports into the Sr. or Lead inspector on updates to unit quantities, materials used, project status, and communicates regarding scheduling and scope changes. Researches construction drawings and reviews site conditions to ensure constructability of design. Tracks and documents unit quantities, materials used, project status, and communicate with Lead Inspector regarding scheduling and scope changes.
  • Transports materials to work locations. Under guidance, interacts with contractors on substation electrical or civil construction projects at a construction worksite. Verifies all projects are built to PG&E standards through quality control and quality assurance.

 

Qualifications
Minimum:
•    High School or GED 
•    At least 4 years of journey-level experience in construction related work in either a civil or electrical capacity. 
•    Proficient in interpreting relevant drawings (electrical or civil) to confirm constructability
Desired:
•    Bachelors Degree in Construction or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
•    Experience in construction
•    Experience at PG&E, job-related
