Department Overview

 

Gas Operations is focused on ensuring the safe and reliable flow of natural gas to our customers.  As a whole, Gas Operations is responsible for all aspects of PG&E's gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, restoration and emergency response.

 

Position Summary

 

This position is represented by Engineers and Scientists of California (ESC) and is subject to collective bargaining.

 

An employee who:

 

reviews, inspects, and evaluates company documentation for adherence with PG&E’s requirements and work procedures (E.g. Gas Service Records (GSR), As-Builts, Leak repair documents, Job Site Safety Analysis (JSSA), Hot Work Checklist, USA tickets, Leak Survey Maps, Rectifier Maintenance, Regulator, Valves, Meters, as well as related instrument calibrations; Reviews construction drawings and sketches (paper and electronic) for completeness and accuracy; Prepares, conducts and documents quality control reviews in accordance with established quality review processes; Maintains all internal review documents accurately and completely; Monitors quality, identifies issues, reports findings and may recommend process improvements. Collaborates with appropriate leadership or field employees to inform, initiate, and ensure correction when discrepancies are found; May provide support to various organizations by reviewing tailboards and attending meetings to educate workgroups as needed to identify process/standard changes that may impact reviews.

 

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting.  This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity.  This position is subject to collectively bargained hourly wage rates.

 

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $42.82 to $60.31.  Under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement, the starting hourly rate for this position is $42.82, subject to collectively bargained wage increases.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

Employee will review, inspect, and evaluate company documentation for adherence with PG&E’s requirements and work procedures. Examples include:

 

  • USA Tickets
  • Leak Survey Maps
  • Rectifier Maintenance Documentation
  • GPOM Documentation for Maintenance of Valves and Regulation Equipment
  • As-Built and Leak Repair Records

 

Employee will be expected to read, understand, retain and effectively communication information on company requirements.  That can include:

 

  • Federal Codes
  • Internal Standards and Procedures
  • Job Aids and Field Guides
  • Five Minute Meetings
  • Bulletins

 

Strong communication skills and ability to establish positive working relationships with our internal partners will be key to success in this position.  Maintaining those relationships, even while delivering new of inaccuracies in documentation takes a unique skillset.

 

•  Travels 50% of the time with potential for overnight stays.  Travel may include staying in hotels 4 nights per week.

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum:

 

• Must be at least 18 years of age

• Must possess a High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience

• Experience and supplemental education which establishes the abilities to perform the duties of the classification

• Must have a valid California Driver's License

• Ability to work in all types of weather extremes

• Ability to drive safely in all weather and road conditions

• Ability to work extended hours, nights, weekends and holidays

• Ability to travel and transfer to a new headquarter upon request at anytime; throughout the entire PG&E service territory with no guarantees as to how long you will be away from home.

• Must be able to wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
