Department Overview
Humboldt Bay ISFSI oversees the requirements for maintaining and protecting the Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI) during interim storage for the Department of Energy until a long term storage solution is provided by the federal government.
Position Summary
Oversees protection duties at Humboldt Bay Power Plant. Ensures the physical protection of the station and its employees as well as the general public. Supports the company and site goals for safe and efficient operation of the plant. Ensures that collectively, the department is responsible for providing the physical protection of the station in accordance with the applicable sections of the Code of Federal Regulations.
To obtain and maintain employment and unescorted access at HBPP, you must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screen, a security background check in accordance with NRC standards with no criminal history that reflects "reliability or trustworthiness issues," a psychological screen, physical, and a vision/auditory exam.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. We would not anticipate that the individual hired into this role would land at or near the top half of the range described below, but the decision will be dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
A reasonable salary range is:
California Minimum: $100,000
California Maximum: $161,000
Job Responsibilities
- As the senior manager on shift during off work hours, lead and direct all site activities
- Perform duties as the Emergency Coordinator for Emergency Plan Events. Identify events and make initial reports to local, state and federal officials.
- Perform duties as Nuclear Test Director
- Supervise the on shift nuclear security force of up to about 6 nuclear security officers
- Oversees and performs training activities for the assigned crew, including weapons qualifications and security requalification training.
- Coordinates, organizes, and monitors Special Nuclear Material moves and other classified activities.
- Take a command position to ensure safety and security of officers and other employees. Brief and direct assessment teams.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Successfully complete a basic training course designed to provide the minimum level of skills and knowledge to competently perform all tasks associated with NRC regulations.
- Qualify as an armed responder, using an NRC mandated contingency weapon to maintain employment and be subject to 3-year background checks in accordance with NRC standards and NRC mandated Behavior Observation Program.
- Subject to a background check in accordance with NRC standards with no criminal history that reflects "reliability or trustworthiness issues."
- Requires a minimum of five years relevant experience. To satisfy the ANSI N18.1 and ANSI/ANS 3.1-1978 Minimum Qualifications a minimum of four of the five years of experience must be in the craft or discipline they supervise (e.g. commercial nuclear worker- RP, Operations, ISFSI, EP, Security)
- Must be able to do frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds, occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds; carry up to 35 pounds of equipment on person daily; and do additional lifting and/or moving ability as required.
- Must be able to pass a physical exam to be employed and be subject to passing future physical exams to continue employment.
- Must not have any legal impediment to carry a firearm or any physical condition which would preclude completing the above-listed physical tasks.
- Must be able to work any and all shifts and holidays, including overtime, with little-to-no notice. Must not be taking any medicine that will impair mental or physical abilities.
