Department Overview
Gas Operations is focused on ensuring the safe and reliable flow of natural gas to our customers. Gas Operations is responsible for all aspects of PG&E's gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, restoration and emergency response.
Position Summary The Methods and Practices Specialist position plays a critical role in field adherence to gas manuals, standards, procedures, and bulletins that enable PG&E to meet or exceed compliance with all applicable codes and regulations, and ensure public and employee safety. The role requires an individual to have both strong field construction, utility experience and the ability to work and communicate effectively and demonstrate by personal action a 100% commitment to employee and public safety. This position is responsible for supporting technical work procedure efforts associated with plastic pipeline. Additional responsibilities will be; technical team member, field support of procedural execution, new product evaluations, support of incident investigations, and subject matter support of special programs/projects as needed including audits, QA/QC/QM findings, etc.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.
This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $118,000.
Bay Area Maximum: $188,000.
&/OR
California Minimum: $112,000.
California Maximum: $179,000.
Responsibilities
• Review and support update of existing technical work procedures following company requirements.
• Field support regarding execution of technical work procedures and provide subject matter support for special projects. • Coaches and develops other Technical Specialists.
• Provides technical expertise, historical perspective, industry standard, and regulation code requirements to improve safety, productivity, and material performance.
• Handles high level written work methods development with attention to deep dive analysis of work methods best practices.
• May lead, support or review investigations of human factor related events.
• May support or review Quality Management programs to ensure effectively gauge results of procedural adherence and training programs.
• Maintain a working relationship with all associated departments which include Curriculum Development, Maintenance & Construction, and Gas Engineering.
Qualifications
Minimum:
• 5 years of gas industry experience • Experience with field gas maintenance, operations, or construction duties
• High school diploma or equivalent
Desired:
• Proficient in using all applications within in the Microsoft office suite
• Knowledge of plastic pipeline engineering design & construction.
• Proficient knowledge of the following codes and standards: • DOT Code of Federal Regulations, Title 49, Part 192
• General Order 112
• PPI, GPTC, AGA, and other industry group
• Knowledge of process management and/or process improvement
• Knowledge in failure analysis practices
• Experience with training or teaching
• Leadership abilities and team development skills
• Problem solving skills
• Ability to build relationships with all levels of incumbents
• Expert level communication skills
• Knowledge of PG&E's Gas Utility requirements, and documents
• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or equivalent.
