Department Overview
Electric Operations (EO) ensures the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration, and emergency response. 

 

Electric Operations Construction Management is responsible for the construction, project and contract management of PG&E’s electric distribution overhead and underground facilities. This role will be part of the Construction Management, Commercial Enablement & Vendor Management team responsible for empowering Construction Management with strategic insight, efficient contract management, and data-driven decisions to deliver reliable, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions. 

 

Position Summary
The Electric Program Manager oversees and directs Construction Management electrical-related projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The incumbent will act as a centralized point of contact for internal and external stakeholder management to ensure oversight, governance, communication, and reporting as well as overall process and project management for the assigned program. 

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  
 

Although, we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. 

 

A reasonable salary range is:

 
1.    Minimum:     $144,000
2.    Midpoint:     $194,000
3.    Maximum:    $244,000

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Applies depth and breadth of knowledge of Program Management to the most unique and complex problems. Works autonomously to anticipate issues and develop innovative solutions. Demonstrates program leadership with internal & external stakeholders to support company goals. Leads initiatives to enhance internal and external stakeholder management. May design and develop new, complex programs.
  • Recognized subject matter expert who may represent PG&E to external agencies on sensitive or complex issues. Partners with Government Relations or other partner organizations in developing messaging and strategy. May manage major cross-functional projects, initiatives and lead those that impact utility or industry developments.
  • Manages all aspects of programs that are cross functional, complex, of broad scope and have a significant financial or political impact on the line of business. Leads development of overall strategy to achieve program goals. May work with other project or program managers or peers in other departments to understand needs, identify process improvements, and explore creative solutions to achieve financial and productivity goals.
  • Partners with Manager/Director to determine most appropriate and effective program performance metrics. Develops content and format for reports and dashboards. Prepares and presents regular updates to senior management, addressing issues and gaining buy in on solutions. Applies Lean methodologies to development of processes, dashboards, and reports.
  • Collects, consolidates and analyzes work completion information to determine overall trends. Develops and delivers presentation on program status, risk and corrective measures to leaders of various levels, including executives. Collaborates and communicates directly with Suppliers to share performance metrics, lead lessons learned sessions and build partnerships. Leads and facilitate Monthly Operating Reviews with key Suppliers.
  • Dedicated centralized point of contact for internal and external partners on potential issues, questions, and ideas. Acts as a subject matter expert for understanding commercial terms, units, and pricing methods to provide guidance and address potential questions from internal and external parties. Understands contractual agreements, managing risk, and handling disputes with Suppliers.

 

Qualifications
Minimum:
•    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience 
•    Ten (10) years of total related experience 


Desired:
•    PMI-Project Management Institute PMP-Project Management Professional certification
•    Experience in electric utility maintenance and construction 
•    Experience in Sourcing, Procurement, Contracts, and Logistics
•    Experience in contract development, administration, negotiation, and contractor performance management 
•    Financial management and budgeting skills and business acumen
•    Expertise in communication, interpersonal/collaboration influence, and process management

•    Understanding of Lean methodologies
•    Broad knowledge of strategic planning principles, project management, process improvement best practices, concepts, methods and techniques 
•    Advanced skills in Microsoft Office tools
•    Advanced presentation skills to effectively convey complex issues to internal and external parties of various levels
