Department Overview

 

System Performance & Strategy focuses on driving cross organizational performance in reliability and resilience. The System Performance & Strategy team is structured in five functional areas consisting of analysis and reporting, programmatic reliability improvements, proactive equipment failure identification via predictive analytics, expansion and utilization of operational technology for improved system monitoring, and development of long-term strategy to enhance reliability & resilience on the PG&E system.

 

The Reliability Analytics & Reporting team within System Performance & Strategy serves as the company’s data experts for outage data including a deep understanding of how PG&E outage data behaves, its quality and completeness, and what its performance through trend and metric modeling indicates to the company regarding near and long-term reliability strategy execution.

 

Position Summary

 

This position will be a team member of the Reliability Analytics & Reporting team whose roles include:

  • External & internal data and metric reporting
  • “Single source of truth” outage data expertise and quality
  • Handling, building, and querying large datasets
  • Analysis and visualization of data trends
  • Communication of key findings for decision making

 

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

 

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $24.52 to $35.37 

 

Responsibilities

 

This role will focus on work related to:

  • Building of scalable data programs
  • Building automated data solutions including objectives such as simple and complex calculations, archiving of large data sets, and automated data controls and quality checks
  • Optimizing multiple existing data tables/dashboards into single sources that can meet multiple needs
  • Supporting large scale weekly routine reporting processes

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Economics, Data Science, Statistics or related field in a full-time capacity at an accredited university
  • Students must be continuing their education towards degree during and after the internship

Desired: 

  • 3.0 GPA or greater in both cumulative GPA and major GPA 
  • Ability to work in a team environment and support fellow team members 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Familiar or proficient with Python, Relational Database, SQL
  • Experience performing data cleansing, data manipulation, or data transformations
  • Detail oriented, with familiarity or experience performing data quality and accuracy reviews
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a structured environment
  • Organized, forward looking, and process-oriented
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills 
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
