Department Overview

PG&E’s dynamic Transportation Services team is responsible for managing all aspects of the PG&E transportation related equipment, from a piece of equipment’s initial design stage to its final disposition. The transportation team is comprised of several interrelated departments including transportation engineering, garage operations, and business operations. Each of these departments work together to provide our clients with a full-service transportation solution. The work of our Transportation Services department is key to the company's success and provides challenge and variety beyond the day-to-day business operations associated with the service and repair of the PG&E operating fleet including, but not limited to, involvement in regulatory and compliance issues, capital planning, clean air and alternate fuel initiatives, project support, company policy review, safety and technical analyses.

 

Position Summary

Oversees the strategy, execution, and analysis of Transportation Services Rental Central goals, objectives, and operations. Oversees the management, leadership, and performance of Rental Central personnel. Collaborates with other departments within Transportation Services, Shared Services, other PG&E's lines of business (LOB), and vendors to maximize safety, affordability, compliance, and quality.

PG&E is providing the full salary/pay range for this position.  The actual amount paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location.  The range to reasonably expect will be around the minimum and the midpoint.  The final decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to the factors above. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

 

California Min: $123,000

California Mid: $160,000

California Max $197,000

 

Position will be headquartered in Davis, CA. 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Manages, leads, coaches, and develops highly specialized Rental Central staff
  • Responsible for the strategy, execution, and analysis of Transportation Services rental vehicle and equipment goals, objectives, and operations
  • Promotes and fosters company safety, wellness, and accident prevention programs
  • Collaborates with other departments within Transportation Services, Shared Services, other PG&E’s lines of business (LOB), clients, and vendors to maximize safety, affordability, performance, services, deliverables, compliance, quality, and efficiency
  • Perform quality assurance and process improvement activities in support of the business. Activities may include developing, managing or coordinating performance or quality assessment, business process re-engineering, change management, communication and training
  • Develops and delivers presentations to multiple levels of management containing summaries of performance data/metrics; includes an explanation of findings, trends and recommendations for business changes. Creates compelling business cases based on complex business issues.
  • Responsible for the oversight and accountability of the rental vehicle and equipment budget and performs strategic planning to maintain cost efficient practices and ensure cost effective operations
  • Leads staff on initiatives to analyze complex business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources. Brings expertise or identifies subject matter experts in support of multi-functional efforts to identify, interpret and produce recommendations and plans based on company and external data analysis. Advises business leaders and addresses business issues, trends and opportunities.
  • Implements continuous improvement of department performance and services by identifying and assessing strengths, weaknesses, opportunities; threats, and risks
  • Lead projects, determining scope, budget, timeframes, forming teams, assigning tasks, managing resources and issues

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
  • 8 years of related experience
  • Prior management and supervisory experience

 

Desired:

  • Bachelor’s (BA/BS) degree or equivalent experience
  • Fleet vehicle operations and/or transportation services experience 
  • Capital planning experience 
  • Project management experience 
  • Budget management and administration experience 
  • Union environment experience 
  • Utility industry experience
