Department Overview
The hardworking coworkers of Electric Engineering ensure all manners of electric engineering—including electric standards and process safety, electric design engineering, instrumentation testing and controls, undergrounding, electric regulatory compliance, and electric investment planning—are in place to safely enable a strategic and stable workplan for our Electric Operations partners. Our organization is accountable for program planning, financial budgeting, and project execution and delivery of all electric engineering projects. Electric Engineering is comprised of approximately 2,000 coworkers.
Position Summary
Under supervision or direction of an employee of a higher classification, performs technical work inthe Research Center or in the field in connection with the design, construction, maintenance, or operationof the Company's plant or functions. Works directly with the professional staff as an assistant to an engineer/scientist or group of engineers/scientists.
Typical assignments may include drafting and technical illustration for technical publications;coordinating and performing audits and writing post-audit reports; writing, reviewing, and modifying procedures; contract work and liaison with suppliers; writing and revising computer programs and userdocumentation and instructing program users; indexing and retrieving documents for the Company'sRecords Management System; preparing and reviewing computer input and output; making and checking mathematical computation; obtaining and analyzing engineering data; chart making, preparing graphs, drawings, and sketches; writing reports; and assisting in administrative work associated with the technical office activities.
This job is represented by Engineers and Scientists of California (ESC), subject to collective bargaining.
This position is onsite and the assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.
PG&E is providing the hourly rate that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This position is subject to collectively bargained hourly wage rates and increases. The starting wage rate for this position is $39.62 per hour. This wage rate is specific to the locality of the job. The wage rate is based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity.
Job Responsibilities
Performs routine work under direction or supervision of an employee in a higher classification. This is the entry level Technical Specialist classification. Work performed at this level will be assigned, as required, to prepare the employee for advancement to Technical Specialist II.
- Utilize MOX record-keeping software to accurately document, track, and identify PG&E measurement and test equipment.
- Maintain precise and up-to-date records of all equipment movements, calibrations, and testing activities.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with customers, colleagues, and vendors regarding equipment status and related inquiries.
- Assist with calibration procedures and maintain a basic understanding of calibration equipment and processes.
- Work efficiently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
- Support the inspection, testing, and maintenance of measurement and test equipment as required.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and industry regulations.
Qualifications
Minimum
- An AA degree in the appropriate technical field or its equivalent in education and experience.
Desired
- Experience with record-keeping software, preferably MOX, or similar systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a high-paced environment.
- Basic knowledge of calibration equipment and procedures.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Prior experience working with PG&E equipment or in the utility industry.
- Familiarity with calibration standards and procedures.
- Basic technical or engineering background.
