Department Overview

The Electrical Engineering Intern position is located within the Electrical Engineering (EE&T) and testing organization within Applied Technology Services (ATS). EE&T provides enterprise-wide engineering analysis and technical support. Our work spans high-voltage, high-current laboratory testing to support product evaluation, failure investigations, research & development, and the development of industry standards. We also deliver applied engineering solutions across departments, including grounding and electrical safety programs, to ensure operational excellence and compliance.

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineering Intern who can seamlessly integrate into our workflow and bring strong software and data analytics skills to enhance our team’s capabilities. The intern will support the development of dashboards, data processing tools, and reporting solutions, as well as assist in engineering analysis and lab testing. This role offers exposure to multiple stages of projects, from data pipeline development and modeling to visualization and technical reporting, providing a hands-on learning experience across both engineering and analytics functions.

 


The successful intern will have the opportunity to learn about these activities as described above working with a team of experienced engineers and technicians.  Additionally, the intern will gain knowledge of the larger Electric Engineering organization through the work they will be performing. 

 

Travel Requirement: Approximately 5%

 

 

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. 

 

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $24.52 to $35.37  

 

 


Responsibilities

 

Supporting senior staff with: 

 

  • Developing and maintaining interactive dashboards and visualizations to support team metrics and reporting
  • Building and optimizing data pipelines, including data collection, aggregation, and transformation
  • Modeling, analysis, and enhancement of existing reporting metrics
  • High-voltage and high-current lab testing, product evaluation, and engineering analysis
  • Preparing monthly reports on productivity, turnaround time, and critical business metrics
  • Business operations such as accrual tracking, purchasing processes, and data entry
  • Continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for workflow optimization and innovation



 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Qualified candidates are pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical & Computer Engineering and at an accredited University 
  • Students must be continuing their education towards their degree during and/or after the internship 

 

Desired:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in programming or data tools such as Python, Java, R, SQL, PL/SQL, or Power BI
  • Experience with data pipeline development, dashboard creation, or data visualization
  • High proficiency with software and data analysis tools to support technical workflows
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
