Department Overview


Electric Transmission & Distribution ensures the delivery of clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy to nearly 16 million people in Northern and Central California. The Electric Transmission & Distribution Team is responsible for ensuring the electric grid's reliability and resiliency through the ongoing maintenance and operations of PG&E's 100,000 miles of distribution lines and over 18,000 miles of Transmission lines. Coworkers in Electric Transmission & Distribution actively engage in the Lean Methodology through the use of visual management in operating reviews to cross-functionally identify and solve problems, and create standard work. Position Summary

The Grid Operations, Applications, and Transformation (GOAT) team is dedicated to implementing and maintaining PG&E’s Operational Technology including the Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS), which is fundamental to a sustainable energy future and the Grid of Tomorrow.

 

We are seeking accomplished, integrity-driven, diverse, and collaborative individual to join us as an ADMS Supervisor.

 

Provides leadership to a team supporting the integrity, performance, and reliability of the Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) in support of electric distribution operations. Oversees SCADA data representation, control system modeling, and build/test/release activities that enable real-time grid visibility and decision-making for ADMS users and stakeholders, while supporting the Network Model through accurate system representation. This role operates during a period of significant transformation, as ADMS continues to expand with the integration of Outage Management System (OMS) capabilities and advanced applications, requiring strong leadership to support evolving operational processes, system functionality, and increased system reliance. Ensures safe, reliable operations through effective team leadership, cross-functional coordination, and support of a 24x7 operational environment, including emergency response events.

 

Position duties may include but are not limited to: 


1.    Provides day-to-day leadership and oversight of ADMS operations, ensuring system availability, performance, and reliability in support of ADMS stakeholders and users.
2.    Leads a team of bargaining unit employees, ensuring high standards, system data quality, and core operational functions.
3.    Oversees activities supporting SCADA data, control, and system modeling, ensuring accurate representation of field devices, telemetry, and operational states within ADMS to support real-time decision making.
4.    Oversees build, test, and release functions performed by ADMS Specialists, including validation of changes, pre-production testing, and support of system deployments to ensure safe and reliable operations.
5.    Partners with Engineering, field organizations, and other business partners to coordinate work, resolve operational issues, and ensure ADMS capabilities align with business and operational needs.
6.    Supervises and prioritizes team workload across operational support, production activities, and project work to meet performance expectations for system availability, data accuracy, and business continuity.
7.    Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory and cybersecurity requirements (e.g., NERC CIP), and maintains procedures and standards supporting safe, reliable grid operations.
8.    Drive continuous improvement by identifying process gaps, improving data quality, and enhancing operational workflows related to network modeling, SCADA representation, and overall system performance.
9.    Supports a 24x7 operational environment, including participation in on-call rotations, incident response, and emergency events (e.g., EPSS, PSPS, severe weather events), and may require travel to support operational needs.

10.    Coaches, develops, and manages team members through performance management, technical mentorship, and adherence to collective bargaining agreements, fostering a high-performing and safety-focused work environment.


Location is flexible within the PG&E Service Territory between Rocklin, Concord, or Fresno headquarters, please note hiring leader will make final decision of what are appropriate headquarters for the role based on business need. 

 

Position will require approximately 40% of travel time in work schedule (i.e., the expectation is that the successful candidate regularly visits all DCCs [Distribution Control Centers])

 

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory (Rocklin, Concord, or Fresno). 


 
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
 

A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum:$136,000
Bay Area Maximum: $232,000
 
OR
 
California Minimum:$129,000
California Maximum: $220,000
 

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

 

 

 

Job Responsibilities 


•    May provide team leadership during 24-hour operations for system support, analysis, development, programming, and hardware maintenance of the ADMS and associated systems. 
•    May provide team leadership to ensure distribution battery monitoring and Distributed Energy Resources Management System (DERMS) solutions are continuing.
•    Partners with project leads to manage workload and accomplish specific performance objectives set for system availability, project completion, special assignments, and new technologies. 
•    Participates in strategic planning and engineering analyses on system infrastructure. 
•    Partners with departments (i.e., DCCs, IT, Construction), providing oversight for completion of critical work, and managing system performance. 
•    Develops and enforces procedures to ensure compliance with applicable North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection (NERC CIP) Standards. 
•    Interfaces with regulatory agencies and other outside entities as required.  
•    Coaches, develops, and leads the team to achieve department goals and coworker development objectives. 
•    Contributes to group financial performance by monitoring budget and system performance, controlling costs, and reviewing and approving expenses. 
•    Supervises staff to accomplish results through effective recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management and coaching, and rewards and recognition.

 

Qualifications- 


Minimum:
•    Bachelor’s Degree in a technical or related field or equivalent experience.
•    5 years in operations, engineering, IT, or other relevant capacity.

Desired:
•    Direct experience with Schneider Electric EcoStruxure ADMS, including SCADA, OMS, and Network Model, as well as advanced applications such as state estimation/load flow, FLISR, and load shedding to support real-time grid operations and decision-making
•    Demonstrated ability to operate effectively within a 24x7, mission-critical environment, ensuring continuous support, rapid issue resolution, and system stability
•    Proven capacity to quickly learn and adapt to new systems, technologies, and tools, with a strong curiosity and growth mindset
•    Strong ability to navigate ambiguity and shifting priorities, balancing operational demands, project work, and emergent issues
•    Demonstrated effectiveness in high-stress, time-sensitive situations, maintaining composure, sound judgment, and clear communication
•    Experience coordinating and delivering operational support in complex environments, ensuring continuity of service during incidents and unplanned events
•    IT Security experience
•    Experience with Electric Distribution System Operations   
•    Experience in a real-time EMS, ADMS or SCADA environment including computer systems, telecommunications, modeling, displays and real time data transfer.
•    Leadership experience and success in managing a highly technical/specialized workforce.
•    Knowledge of California and Federal regulatory requirements such as, NERC CIP, and California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and CAISO.
•    Ability to monitor, gather and analyze information, to determine potential impacts, and recommend responses to challenges.
•    Knowledge of EMS or ADMS, power systems, and the utility business.
•    Competency in developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences
•    Competency in knowing the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement
•    Competency in planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals
