The Regional Service Model aligns local external stakeholders with cross-functional internal teams to address issues and improve outcomes for PG&E customers. Position Summary

PG&E is seeking a Summer Intern to support primarily External Communications efforts within the Regional Service Model for Region 2 (North Valley/Sierra). This role will focus on storytelling, social media engagement, and videography to highlight the impactful work happening across the region. In addition to supporting external efforts, the Summer Intern may also be asked to assist with internal efforts such as Monthly Operating Reviews, Leadership Town Halls, Executive Hometown Visits, and Go-Sees.

The Summer Intern will collaborate with regional leadership, operations teams, and others to develop engaging digital content that informs customers, supports community outreach, and showcases PG&E’s commitment to safety, reliability, and community partnership. This is a hands-on opportunity for a creative, detail-oriented communicator who is passionate about visual storytelling and digital engagement. Travel may be required; frequency depends on the assignment and is typically less than 30%.

 

The successful candidate is expected to support the local team on key initiatives including but not limited to:

 

  • The development and execution of social media content for Region 2 across internal and external platforms
  • Capturing and editing short-form video content highlighting field operations, community events, safety initiatives, and customer impact stories
  • Assisting with planning and producing regional video features, including scripting, filming, and post-production editing
  • Partnering with regional leadership to identify storytelling opportunities aligned with business priorities
  • Drafting engaging captions, posts, and digital content tailored to target audiences
  • Tracking social media performance metrics and provide insights to improve engagement
  • Ensuring all communications align with PG&E brand standards and messaging guidelines
  • Support event coverage and real-time digital storytelling when appropriate

 

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

 

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $20.22 to $34.07

Responsibilities

Supporting senior staff with:

 

  • Notetaking during Daily Operating Reviews (DORs) and Monthly Operating Reviews (MORs)
  • Contributing content to the monthly regional newsletter
  • Coordinating internal Go-Sees and external Customer Visits
  • Creating content for the region’s social media accounts, including photo and video

 

The successful intern will have the opportunity to learn about these activities as described above working with a team of experienced leaders and problem solvers. Additionally, the Intern will gain knowledge of the larger Regional Service Model organization and utility through the work they will be performing.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelors or Master’s degree in Business, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Digital Media, or a related major.
  • Students must be continuing their education towards degree during and/or after the internship returning to school full-time in the Fall of 2026.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license prior to start date.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with photography and visual content creation Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience creating content for social media platforms. (LinkedIn, Instagram, X, Facebook, etc.)
  • Basic videography and video editing skills. (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, or similar tools)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Interest in public affairs, community engagement, and corporate communications.
  • Takes initiative and can work independently with minimal direction.
  • 3.0 GPA or greater in both cumulative GPA and major GPA.
  • Familiarity with analytics tools and social media performance tracking.
  • Experience supporting communications for large organizations, utilities, or public-facing institutions.
  • Basic graphic design skills. (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Knowledge of the North Valley/Sierra Region and its communities.
