Position Summary

Ensures the availability, integrity, and reliability of assigned systems. Provides technical support of an IT infrastructure or operations product line, enterprise platform and/or technology service. Provides operational support to monitor, analyze, diagnose and resolve problems. Provides consulting and advisory tasks to engineering, planning, and clients. Tests new technologies in a lab environment. Participates in design reviews on new deployments. Partners with product specialists and technical architects to make recommendations for new or retired technology products & systems.

 

To obtain and maintain employment, you must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screen, a security background check for unescorted access to a nuclear plant, psychological screen, and be subject to random drug and alcohol screening in fulfillment of federal requirements.
 
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.


 
A reasonable salary range is:
California Minimum: $90,000
California Maximum: $136,000

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides 3rd tier support in analyzing, diagnosing and resolving problems.
  • Collaborates with team or peers to work on issues, projects or activities.
  • Provides technical support and administration of critical infrastructure network components (e.g., firewalls, proxy servers, routers, etc.).
  • Assists others using established processes, practices and procedures as directed.
  • Collaborates with others to identify, analyze and improve existing business processes within a department to meet new goals and objectives.
  • Assists in the update and modification of work procedures and standards.
  • Ensures system health and availability of the systems.
  • Performs the operation, management, and maintenance of network and telecommunication systems, linked systems and peripherals in order to enhance network operations.
  • Performs testing and evaluations of new technologies in a lab environment.

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Associate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related discipline, or equivalent experience or relevant technical trade school/training
  • 2 years of IT operations experience

 

Desired:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience in telecommunications, job-related, 3 years
  • IT-Information Technology Product certification, for example CCIE, CCAr, MCSE, MCSM, RHCA, RHCE
  • Network experience
  • Cisco certifications
  • Telecommunications experience
  • Residence within 50 miles of DCPP
