Department Overview

 

Power Generation operates and maintains PG&E's hydroelectric, fossil, solar generation, and battery storage facilities, providing approximately 5,300 megawatts of generating capacity for our customers. Our nearly 900 coworkers are dedicated to delivering safe, reliable, and cost-effective generation to California in an environmentally responsible manner. Our hydro facilities include 62 conventional hydro powerhouses, a pumped-storage facility, 98 reservoirs, 168 dams and more than 200 miles of canals and flumes, among other water conveyances. Natural gas-fired plants in operation are Humboldt Bay Generating Station in Eureka; Colusa Generating Station in Colusa County and Gateway Generating Station in Antioch. Several utility-scale solar generation plants also are operated and maintained, as well as PG&E’s successful entry into battery energy storage, our Elkhorn Battery facility at Moss Landing in Monterey County.

 

 

Position Summary

 

This role involves managing and administering the Power Generation CAISO metering and telemetry program, which includes project work or special customer offerings with an annual financial budget. The responsibilities include oversight, governance, communication, training, reporting, and overall process and project management. The individual in this role will also support Project Execution, Operations, and Maintenance teams related to Power Generation Electrical Regulatory Compliance & Electrical Safety. (e.g., NERC/WECC/CPUC/CEC) 

 

The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory and will be agreed upon by the successful candidate and hiring leader.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and assigned location, subject to change per business needs.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

 

A reasonable salary range is:

 

Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area)           $ 102,000.00

Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area)          $ 162,000.00

 

OR

 

Minimum Base Salary (California)           $ 97,000.00

Maximum Base Salary (California)          $ 154,000.00

 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Applies advanced knowledge of Program Management to moderate to complex assignments and established programs. Works independently on most issues. May participate in the development of new programs.
  • Develops of annual productivity targets for work to be completed in the program.
  • Prepares and presents program budget recommendation to leaders with some guidance. Reviews and prepares monthly budget variance explanations.
  • Administers identified program work or projects. Tracks activity and completions. Prepares reports and status updates and presents to manager and/or key program stakeholders. Performs trend analysis to identify issues with costs or productivity and develop recommendations. Receives limited guidance on complex issues.
  • This program involves an external customer interface. Regularly communicates with customers regarding program work status and/or resolving issues.
  • Assists Supervisor or senior peers in analysis of work plan and schedules to reallocate resources or reprioritize program work.
  • Develops recommendations for improvements to tools and processes for the program. Identifies, develops and participates in or may lead the implementation of best practices to improve productivity and reduce operation costs.
  • Works collaboratively with peers and partner organizations and divisions to develop and implement new or improved processes, controls and procedures to improve program compliance, efficiencies and customer satisfaction.
  • May perform end user testing for SAP or other business system updates and enhancements.
  • May manage SAP role mapping requests related to systems needs for the assigned program. Performs data clean-up when applicable.
  • Develops communication and training for assigned programs. Ensures target audience is fully educated in the purpose of the program and the proper processes and requirements to follow. May assists more senior peers on communication and training for larger, more complex programs.
  • Ensures ongoing regulatory compliance with the program.

 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

 

Minimum:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of total related experience

 

 

Desired:

 

  • Master’s Degree in related discipline or equivalent experience. 
  • PMI-Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. 
  • Knowledge of electric utility processes, regulatory requirements, critical success factors, goals and initiatives
  • Project management skills

  • Basic financial, accounting, budgeting knowledge
  • Experience with CAISO Tariff and Business Process Manuals.
