Department Overview

 

Power Generation operates and maintains PG&E's hydroelectric, fossil, solar generation and battery storage facilities, providing approximately 5,300 megawatts of generating capacity for our customers. Our nearly 900 coworkers are dedicated to delivering safe, reliable and cost-effective generation to California in an environmentally responsible manner. Our hydro facilities include 62 conventional hydro powerhouses, a pumped-storage facility, 98 reservoirs, 168 dams and more than 200 miles of canals and flumes, among other water conveyances. Natural gas-fired plants in operation are Humboldt Bay Generating Station in Eureka; Colusa Generating Station in Colusa County and Gateway Generating Station in Antioch. Several utility-scale solar generation plants also are operated and maintained, as well as PG&E’s successful entry into battery energy storage, our Elkhorn Battery facility at Moss Landing in Monterey County.

 

Position Summary

 

 

The Operations and Maintenance Support Services, Business Operations Specialist, Expert, will play a crucial role in supporting waste elimination, management of change, technical document development, process development, project support, and program management activities within the O&M Support Services team. This individual will also assist in supporting the Maintenance Planning and Work and Resource Coordination teams. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to support multiple projects and stakeholders with a self-directed drive.

 

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

A reasonable salary range is:​

Bay Area Minimum: $​114,000

Bay Area Maximum: $​182,000

&/OR​

California Minimum: $​108,000

California Maximum: $​173,000

 

Job Responsibilities

 

Candidate may be responsible for any or all of the following:

 

  • Lead initiatives to eliminate waste and improve efficiency (Waste Elimination).
  • Management of Change.
  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Manage change processes, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption to operations.
  • Develop and maintain technical documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Design and implement processes to enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Provide project support, including planning, execution, and monitoring of project activities.
  • Manage program activities, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Assist the Maintenance Planning team and Work and Resource Coordination team with their respective tasks and responsibilities.

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum:

 

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Job-related experience, 8 years

 

Desired:

 

  • Advanced Power BI expertise
  • Advanced SAP knowledge set
  • Bias toward action and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong consensus-building skills, with the ability to bring diverse stakeholders together.
  • Ability to easily clear complex roadblocks and inspire team synergy.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying highly complex ideas with credibility, confidence, and clarity to diverse audiences using a variety of media.
  • Ability to convert ambiguity into structure, creating efficient processes from initial iterations.
  • Strong organizational skills, capable of handling multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Flexibility in project communication, execution, and problem-solving approaches when coordinating across various stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of success in building consensus and managing many moving parts within matrixed teams.
  • Experience within utility operations environments and working with field stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with California utility regulations, regulatory processes, and policy context.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work in a matrixed environment and a positive execution-oriented mentality.
  • Working technical knowledge of overall electric grid design and operations.
  • Strong technical acumen with the ability to understand operations and maintenance verbiage and requirements.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification and/or Certified Scrum Master.
  • Awareness and familiarity with tools/applications regularly used by Power Gen.
