Department Overview
PG&E’s Power Generation Department manages and operates the largest privately-owned hydroelectric system in the nation. These renewable electric generation resources, located mostly at high elevation in California mountain ranges including the Sierra Nevada and southern Cascade mountains include 68 powerhouses, 184 miles of canals, 41 miles of flumes, 135 miles of tunnels, 19 miles of penstocks, 99 reservoirs, and 142,000 acres of watershed lands all covered by 26 operating licenses issued by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
Position Summary
Position headquartered in Auberry. Although this position is technically "hybrid", the expectation is for you to be in the office in Auberry or at Helms on a regular basis, a couple times a week when we are not in outage and more often when we are in an outage.
The Electric Project Management leadership oversees teams of Project Managers, Project Control Analysts and may oversee Engineers. The work group may consist of all regular employees, contractors or both and is responsible for managing electric capital construction and/or maintenance projects throughout service territory. The incumbent is typically assigned to a region or area with an annual project portfolio budget. The leaders promote a safety culture and ensure staff adhere to all company and regulatory safety practices and policies.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
California Minimum: $159,000
California Maximum: $270,000
Responsibilities:
- Oversees resolution of complex projects and programs.
- Develops and tracks metrics that provide data for process measurement, business operations or risk assessment and present findings to leadership.
- Provides analysis, market intelligence, governance, research, best practices, project plans to ensure successful implementation of key milestones identified for strategic program.
- Act as the primary interface for big, complex programs including leading coordination and facilitation of program review sessions to review costs, schedule and program effectiveness.
- Manages project portfolios to allow cross-prioritization of projects for budget forecasting purposes; ensure projects are strategically aligned, and ensures projects stay on track.
- Manages the portfolio of assigned projects and ensures all projects are designed safely and constructed on time, on budget, on scope, and without adverse environmental or regulatory impacts.
- Presents findings and makes recommendations to officers and high-level leaders.
- Develops and builds a high performance team by setting goals, developing and managing work resources, and ensuring the team has adequate tools, training and technology to successfully perform their jobs.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
- Job-related experience, 8 years
Desired Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Engineering or job-related experience
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, or equivalent
- Experience in utility construction, 5 years
- Experience in project management, electric utility. 5 years
- Competency in maneuvering comfortably through complex policy, process, and people-related organizational dynamics
- Competency in seeing ahead to future possibilities and translating them into breakthrough strategies
- Ability to apply program management theories, concepts, methods, best practices, and techniques as needed to perform at the job level
- Competency in building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives
- Knowledge of budget components to ensure funding level is appropriate based on key goals, objectives, implementation technology and strategy, and performance metrics as needed to perform at the job level.
