Department Overview

 

Power Generation operates and maintains PG&E's hydroelectric, fossil, solar generation and battery storage facilities, providing approximately 5,300 megawatts of generating capacity for our customers. Our nearly 1000 coworkers are dedicated to delivering safe, reliable and cost-effective generation to California in an environmentally responsible manner. Our hydro facilities include 62 conventional hydro powerhouses, a pumped-storage facility, 98 reservoirs, 168 dams and more than 200 miles of canals and flumes, among other water conveyances. Natural gas-fired plants in operation are Humboldt Bay Generating Station in Eureka; Colusa Generating Station in Colusa County and Gateway Generating Station in Antioch. Several utility-scale solar generation plants also are operated and maintained, as well as PG&E’s successful entry into battery energy storage, our Elkhorn Battery facility at Moss Landing in Monterey County.

 

Position Summary

 

Ensures the investment strategy, cost effectiveness, resource allocation evaluation, and interdependency assessment for all projects and maintenance work within PG&E's Fossil, Solar and Battery Storage System assets. Establishes the asset strategies, inspections, maintenance and project requirements, and risk management and governance guidelines. Determines project requirements and scopes, as well as cost-benefit analysis for capital and expense projects.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and assigned location, subject to change per business needs.

 

This position is flexible within Antioch, Auburn, Colusa, and Eureka. Headquarters will be agreed upon by the successful candidate and hiring leader.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

 

A reasonable salary range is:

 

Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area)           $ 151,000.00

Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area)          $ 257,000.00

 

OR

 

Minimum Base Salary (California)           $ 143,000.00

Maximum Base Salary (California)          $ 244,000.00

 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Coordinates asset strategies for all Fossil, Solar and Battery Storage assets within the Power Generation portfolio.  This position supports the ISO 55001 certification requirements within Power Generation.
  • Responsible for the documentation of all asset strategies, investments and content within the Fossil, Solar and Battery Storage asset management plans.
  • Serves as Asset Family Lead for Fossil, Solar and Battery Storage assets and summarize investment scopes, project/maintenance/inspection plans, cost and risk management information to Asset Family Owner, various stakeholders and business partners.
  • Participate in inter-department meetings with Business Planning, Operations, and other departments to continually improve processes and efficiency. 
  • Develops and implements effective business and engineering control policies, practices, and procedures to ensure quality execution of work, governance and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborates with various departments and LOB to continuously improve processes and efficiencies.
  • Provides direct supervision, staffing, training, coaching, and mentoring to ESC employees. Assigns work, prioritizes projects, and monitors employees.
  • Travel to other facilities and/or meetings up to 25% of time.  Hybrid position and in the office 50% of the time.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

 

Minimum:

 

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of related experience
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license

 

 

Desired:

 

  • Degreed and Licensed Mechanical or Electrical Engineer
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree
  • Master’s degree in Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience in engineering project planning, evaluation, safety, and systems
  • Supervisory or management experience
  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma (LSS)
  • Knowledge of engineering and design practices
  • Ability to build and sustain strong cooperative relationships with various levels of management, leadership, and personnel at PG&E
  • Ability to effectively manage conflicting and competing priorities, interests, and outcomes and generate results
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of project management policies, principles, processes, procedures, and cost controls
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, databases, and information systems
