Position Summary

This is an International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1245 represented classification, which has over 100 years of experience representing employees at PG&E.  This job is subject to collective bargaining.

 

This position requires the PPT to work a rotating, 12 hour shift.

 

PG&E is providing the hourly rate that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This position is subject to collectively bargained hourly wage rates and increases. The starting wage rate for this position is $66.62 per hour.  This wage rate is specific to the locality of the job. The wage rate is based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity. 

 

Responsibilities

Operates the plant control systems, control panels and other plant devices during start up, shutdown, normal and emergency operations.  Possesses / obtains thorough knowledge of complex plant processes.  Tasks may include but not be limited to the following;

•Support and execute plant safety procedures such as Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), Job Safety Analysis, Confined Space, Hot Work and others.

•Monitor and control plant operating parameters within required limits and permit limitations.

•Adjust generator loads and voltages as required.

•Monitor, control and maintain balance of plant systems.

•Perform on-line and off-line testing.

•Prepare plant equipment for maintenance and return to service.

•Conduct electrical switching.

•Perform logging and reporting activities.

•Communicate with dispatch personnel and other PG&E / non PG&E departments and agencies.

•Assists in maintaining accurate operating procedures and policies.

•Assists in maintaining accurate prints, configurations and drawings.

•Predictive, planned, and corrective maintenance as assigned.

•Provide training and instruction to peers as required.

•Actively participate in safety meetings and identify areas for continuous improvement

•Update current Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and initiate new SOPs

•Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:  

Minimum Qualifications: 

•Minimum 5 years control room operations of Power Plant or heavy industrial processes such as chemical plants or refineries.

•Must be at least 18 years of age

•Must possess a High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience

•Must possess a valid California Driver's License

•Ability to work extended hours, nights, weekends and holidays

•Must be able to lift 50 pounds to your waist, raise 20 pounds over your head and climb 10 stairs. Must be able to scale a ladder

•Must be able to work in all types of weather.

 

Desired Qualifications:

•Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team player

•Must be able to read and interpret technical drawings such as (including but not limited to) Piping and Instrumentation (P&ID) and electrical one lines.

•Start up, commissioning, operations and maintenance experience with medium and large frame unit combined cycle facilities.

•Candidates with DCS and power plant automation systems.

•Demonstrated knowledge of SAP work management software.

•Demonstrated technical skills and experience with software such as Microsoft Office products and programs.
