Department Overview

The of Electric Operations ensure the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.

Position Summary

This is an International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1245 represented classification, which has over 100 years of experience representing employees at PG&E. This job is subject to collective bargaining.

 

Operates heavy construction equipment inclusive of cranes, and mechanized cable pulling equipmentto haul, load, unload, and move equipment and materials to and from jobsites, in support of electric construction projects.

PG&E is providing the hourly rate that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This position is subject to collectively bargained hourly wage rates and increases. The starting wage rate for this position is $58.04 per hour.  This wage rate is specific to the locality of the job. The wage rate is based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity. 

Job Responsibilities

Inspects all equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety. Perform all aspects of Class A driving; maintaining logs, securing & transport loads,

-Drives transport truck or various boomtrucks with or without trailer, in order to move equipment and materials.

-Performs installation at the jobsite, with crane, and mechanized cable dolly. This includes placing electric equipment, lifting and loading cable reels and operating the cable dolly        

-Upon job completion, collects and loads salvage materials and equipment for return to the yard

-Upon return to the yard, offloads materials and equipment

-Uses cell phone for work communication

-Work as a member of an Underground Distribution Crew

Qualifications

Minimum:

 -Must possess a High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience

-Must be at least 18 years of age

-Must possess Class A CA Driver License on Day 1 of the job

-Ability to work in all types of weather extremes

-Ability to drive safely in all weather and road conditions

-Ability to work extended hours, nights, weekends and holidays

-Ability to travel and transfer to a new headquarter upon request at any time; throughout the entire PG&E service territory with no guarantees as to how long you will be away from home.

-Must be able to lift heavy loads of up to 100 pounds.

-Must be able to wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment

-Must be Certified Crane Operator for Crane Types AB, TB<21, and TB21-75 

-Must be enrolled in PG&E Crane Certification Courses and obtain Crane Certifications within 6 months.
