Vegetation Management Operations Intern

 

Department Overview

Vegetation Management Operations and Execution team oversees and manages the contract work force that performs all veg work in the North Valley and Sierra Regions.

 

Position Summary

The individual in this position will support the Director, North Valley Operations, Sierra Operations and VOI teams in an effort to meet and exceed their weekly, monthly and annual targets. Utilize data to navigate through challenges. Identify leading and lagging performance indicators. collaborate with other organizations to accomplish tasks. Daily monitoring and tracking of the following: all production, safety performance, budget.

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. 

 

The hourly rate for a bachelor’s degree ranges from $24.52 to $29.81 and for a master’s degree is $35.37.

 

Responsibilities

  • Applies broad expertise and advanced knowledge to wide-ranging issues.
  • Works with Sr. Manager, Planning Supervisor and Operational Supervisors across functions to influence decisions.
  • Utilizes financial analysis, best practices to recommend and implement improvements and corrective actions.
  • Supports the annual Wildfire Mitigation Plan and managing/executing commitments.
  • Creates new and complex data models to facilitate business decisions.
  • Communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences using a variety of media.
  • Integrates industry data-related knowledge into everyday business practices and decision-making. 
  • Assists with development of guidance documents and procedures related to tree work.
  • Assists with in-depth quality assurance final reviews of data outputs and contract drafts

 

The successful intern will have the opportunity to lead and/or support activities as described above working with a team of experienced Vegetation Management members.  Additionally, the intern will gain knowledge of the larger Vegetation Management Operations organization through the work they will be performing.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Qualified candidates are pursuing a bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related engineering field at an accredited University
  • Students must be continuing their education towards their degree fulltime during and/or after the internship. Students must be returning back to school fulltime in the fall of 2025.
  • Required a Class C driver’s license at the time of first day of start date.

 

Desired:

  • EIT or FE certification
  • 3.0 GPA or greater in both cumulative GPA and major GPA
  • Engineering experience in utilities, municipalities, construction, or engineering consultation
  • Ability to work in a team environment and support fellow team members
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills 
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Takes initiative and can work independently with minimal direction
  •  1 year of related field-based experience (e.g. tree work, forestry, landscaping/gardening)
  •  Certified Arborist or Utility Specialist
  •  American Society of Consulting Arborist Registered, 4 years’ experience in forestry, or arboriculture industry
  •  Completion of the PG&E Power Pathway program
  •  Military Service with honorable discharge
