Department Overview

The men and women of Electric Operations ensure the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E’s electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.


Position Summary

You will be responsible for identifying contract worthy projects, consult on project feasibility and project site details, coordinate with construction crews, oversee project inspectors, and on a project specific basis perform construction oversight.


The successful candidates will ensure that all Electric projects within the PG&E territory have executed contracts, appropriate scope of works, construction documents, funding and program approval prior to start.  The successful candidates will need to have a strong background in distribution Electric construction, contract management and cost accounting. 


 Job Responsibilities

  • Be 100% dedicated to public, employee and contractor safety. Create and foster a safe work environment by maintaining an absolute commitment to safety for self and the Team.
  • Develop a technical working knowledge of all PG&E electrical standards related to work performed.
  • Drive project construction schedules with contractors and internal workgroups to ensure projects meet planned milestones.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal workgroups and external stakeholders (developers and external contractors) to ensure that portfolio and milestone dates are accurate and meet program unit & budget targets.
  • Work with other construction specialists across all regions. Share responsibilities and projects in order to achieve 100% compliance to PG&E specifications and guidelines.
  • Create and update weekly and monthly progress and cost reports for senior leadership. Communicate results to all project team members
  • Write Job aids and guidance documents on process changes. Communicate to all project team members and provide support as necessary.
  • Track project milestones and coordinate as necessary meetings between stakeholders to ensure work is completed as efficiently and effectively as possible. Follow up on outstanding items where necessary and escalate when milestone is impacting critical path to execution.
  • Review portfolio for bundling opportunities, and drive discussions to reduce excess cost. Obtain funding as necessary for work outside of program scope from other workstreams and ensure all costs are properly accounted for.
  • Support the development and training of others in the organization to ensure all employees meet the required qualifications, fully understand the position requirements and are prepared to represent PG&E.
  • Lead and take accountability to ensure team understands and perform all the following:
  • Speak and write clearly, concisely, and directly; provides and accepts feedback and suggestions.
  • 100% dedicated to safety. Create and foster a safe work environment by maintaining an absolute commitment to safety for self and the Team. Monitor daily progress activities and ensure that the construction operations meet the program’s safety, quality, cost and schedule goals.
  • Represent PG&E professionally and ethically to all contacts.
  • Ensure that the contractor’s plan and assigned resources are adequate to deliver the highest value to PG&E and meet the above stated goals.
  • Intercede on behalf of the contractor to obtain, from Project Manager, Engineering, Contracts, or other internal PG&E teams, any information needed to maintain the construction work flow, budget and schedule.
  • Responsible for communicating any engineering and design issues with PM, FE or Engineering.  Seek assistance and make decisions on any scope of work change affecting cost and schedule according to the Delegation of Authority requirements.
  • Drive project close out.



  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Seven (7) years of experience in the field of Industrial engineering or Construction.


  • 7 years of experience in the field of Industrial engineering or Construction.
  • 9 years working experience in the field of Industrial.
  • Engineering or Construction.
  • Working Knowledge Primavera.
  • P6, Primavera Contracts.
  • Manager, Prolog or similar.
  • Demonstrated abilities in Cost accounting / Inspection / Contract administration.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in Electric Distribution Construction.
  • Ability to perform cost and project scheduling.
  • Electric Distribution material / construction / standards.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical Distribution construction projects in all disciplines.
  • Familiarity with the processes and orientation of construction contracting firms.
  • Strong project and people management skills.
  • Ability to understand, interpret and communicate civil/electrical work procedures, process instrumentation, work methods, standards, policies, and guidelines.
  • Demonstrates skill in achieving cooperation from others in order to achieve a goal.
  • Ability to lead teams to perform effectively under deadlines and n emergency situations
  • Supports a team in assigned geographic area to ensure the safe, efficient and timely completion of work in compliance with the maintenance requirements of General Order (GO) 165 standards. Integrates GO 165 in the work/document verification process.
  • Knowledge of the company’s emergency management processes.
  • Ability to lead trainings and coach less experienced employees.
  • Long term planning and scheduling skills.
