Department Overview
Electric Operations ensures the delivery of clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy to nearly 16 million people in Northern and Central California. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.
The Quality Management Organization provides oversight of compliance activities within Electric Operations. This includes ensuring that all compliance requirements are known, there are documented processes and controls, controls are tested and effective, and that evidence of compliance exists. The department is the primary liaison with external regulators (NERC/WECC, CPUC, CAISO, etc.), manages new and changing requirements, regulatory audits, incident reporting and review, and customer complaints. The department is responsible for leading compliance improvement initiatives.
Position Summary
The Electric Quality Verification Distribution (QVD) Specialist conducts field assessments on PG&E’s electric distribution facilities. These work assessments focus on verifying the quality of:
- Overhead (OH) and underground (UG) inspections as required by GO 165.
- Construction work performed by construction crews in conjunction with emergency and planned Electric Corrective (EC) notifications and General Construction work, to ensure facilities are repaired/constructed per the requirements of PG&E Construction Standards.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory. Position will be located within the North Coast Region.
PG&E is providing the salary range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of the job posting. This salary range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
Bay Area – $126,000 - $179,300
And/or
California - $120,000 - $170,500
Job Responsibilities
- Provides expertise to leadership and cross-functional teams regarding development, implementation, and monitoring of controls and mitigation plans.
- May lead company response to regulatory data requests, investigations, audits, and other inquiries.
- Regularly updates leadership on changes to requirements/standards, metrics, program effectiveness, and opportunities for improvement.
- Leads the effort to identify, analyze and improve existing business processes within a department to meet new goals and objectives.
- May participate in risk management forums at the enterprise level.
- May act as team lead but does not have any direct reports.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
- Job-related experience, 7 years
- Valid CA Driver’s License
- Ability to travel 50% of the time within the PG&E service territory
Desired:
- Experience as Journeyman Lineman
- Completion of a federal or state sanctioned apprenticeship with approved supporting documentation (e.g. IBEW Journeyman A Ticket) and/or union, non-union, or union-affiliated sponsored apprenticeship or equivalent experience
- Extensive knowledge of High Voltage Electrical Systems
- Advanced knowledge of General Orders 165, 95 and 128
- Previous Utility experience as a Compliance Inspector, Journey Lineman, Field Engineer Technician, High Voltage Electrician
- Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW)
- Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP)
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
- Other compliance or risk related certification, as applicable
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Demonstrates broad expertise and applies advanced knowledge to wide- ranging compliance and/or risk management issues.
- Expert level knowledge of assigned area of business including processes and procedures
- Advanced knowledge of and ability to apply internal control concepts and/or risk analysis & assessment
- Strong problem solving, project management, and change management skills
- Ability to manipulate data and draw conclusions / make recommendations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate complex data effectively to a variety of audiences including executives
- Highly flexible, self-directed, and able to adapt well to a rapidly changing environment
