Position Summary

 

Responsible for planning and managing the Gas Transmission and Distribution portfolio of work within Gas Operations. Ensures engineering projects are designed and delivered efficiently while meeting regulatory requirements identify resource needs and constraints in order to execute projects/programs that mitigate risk, deploy technology projects to improve operational safety and efficiency, and track progress against rate case and work execution plans

 

Reporting Relationship

 

This position will report to Vice President, Gas Transmission & Distribution Construction.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Leads the development and deployment of long-term asset strategy and reliability programs, including review and approval of distribution system reliability capital projects.
  • Ensure safety standards are embedded in design & engineering work plans.
  • Provides oversight and technical consultation regarding the development of safety designs, engineering practices, and regulatory and code compliance, safety design reviews, conditional assessments, and inspections.
  • Evaluates, realigns, and improves short-term and long-term resource management strategy.
  • Develops and implements effective business strategies in support, seeking feedback from those closest to the work
  • Provides leadership on resource management strategies and associated workplans.

Background Qualifications

 

Minimum

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or job-related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • 10 years leadership experience
  • Experience in Project/Program Management, Construction and Gas Engineering
  • Experience in management of departmental budgets forecasting and planning

 

Desired

  • Competency in planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals
  • Competency in building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives
  • Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local regulations and laws - for example FERC, NERC, CAISO, CPUC - as needed to perform at the job level
  • Competency in developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences
  • Competency in maneuvering comfortably through complex policy, process, and people-related organizational dynamics
  • Knowledge of gas engineering theories, concepts, methods, best practices, and techniques as needed to perform at the job level
  • Regulatory experience
  • Knowledge of field execution and contracting strategies
  • Experience working with labor unions and leading a unionized workforce
