Geospatial Solutions facilitates management of risk for mission critical processes using the ArcGIS Online (AGOL) platform to build content - data, maps, applications - for our partners in the office and in the field. Position Summary

 

Position Summary

 

Provide GIS Analysis, content development, and management support for the Gas Operations and Asset Knowledge Management teams. 
 
Successful candidate should expect to travel to San Ramon, CA on as needed basis for meetings/trainings etc.
 
Travel may be required to headquarters or Bay Area to attend workshops, team meetings or other organizational all-hands meetings.
 

Travel to headquarters or Bay Area may be required 0 – 3 times per month.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory (San Ramon). 


PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

 

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum:$93,000
Bay Area Maximum: $139,000 


This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

 

Job Responsibilities
•    Provide user support with GIS tools / functionality
•    Provide GIS support and data integration.
•    Gather, integrate, and convert data from various sources into ArcGIS databases
•    Develop and perform data gathering, data integration and quality control procedures for geospatial data, interface with data source systems to resolve issues
•    Respond to requests for GIS queries or maps for special projects.
•    Create and update metadata and catalog GIS layers, including documenting work flow procedures for staff using GIS, both in the office and in the field.
•    Develop and refresh GIS data for PG&E’s external GIS web sites and public outreach programs
•    Support enterprise GIS data modeling and data capture initiatives as well as software functionality review.
•    Assess and coordinate GIS software and hardware needs of the department, evaluate new GIS software and databases
•    Work collaboratively with other work groups and vendors, troubleshoot issues, produce technical communication
•    Continually identify opportunities for improvement in the way work is done, share expertise and lessons learned
•    Demonstrate by personal action a 100% commitment to employee and public safety.
•    Accurately identify Safety Critical Elements.

 

Qualifications-

Minimum Qualifications:  
•    Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant experience
•    3 years of experience with GIS applications.
•    1 year of experience in ArcGIS 9.x or later.

Desired Qualifications:
•    Utility or Pipeline industry experience
•    Ability to use python to automate processes, experience with arcpy and/or arcgis api for python
•    Safe Software FME experience    
•    PODS data model experience. 
•    Gas Distribution or Transmission Experience. 
•    Integrity Management and Risk Management experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and (Technical) Competencies
•    Proficiency in ArcGIS 10.x or ArcGIS Pro
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook/Word/Excel
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Access, Oracle, or SQL server databases
•    Proficiency in a programming language –, Python, or JavaScript
•    Safety record demonstrating safety is a priority for self and team
