Department Overview

 

The men and women of Electric Operations ensure the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.

 

Electric Operations Performance Improvement (EOPI) will promote change to how Electric Operations aligns and operates to become more risk-informed, fully accountable, and agile in our ability to effectively prioritize and implement improvement opportunities.  Through implementation of a standard process management framework, this team will move Electric Operations towards a process ownership model and standard process architecture. 

 

Position Summary

 

The Expert Process Improvement Consultant is responsible for facilitating the delivery of Electric Operations’ highest priority projects through process improvement, change management, data analyses and benchmarking approaches.  The role will initiate, monitor, coordinate and support process improvement initiatives that will advance performance through safety improvements, quality enhancements, productivity gains, and cost reductions.  The candidate will provide project leadership and process improvement coaching to ensure a disciplined, data-driven approach to problem solving that will deliver on customer and business requirements.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for leading complex process improvement initiatives; providing effective program/project management, change leadership, team leadership, mentoring, and consulting to key stakeholders.
  • Prioritize, scope and execute on well-defined process improvements for high-impact projects in alignment with organization's performance goals.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of business processes using data-driven approches.
  • Identify project issues and address them in a timely manner; communicate project status and metrics on a regular basis to stakeholders.
  • Identify, suggest, and implement best practices to facilitate best solutions and methods that will optimize processes in all areas of the business.
  • Support the organization to ensure consistency, cohesiveness and sharing of best practices.
  • Use skills in process improvement, facilitation, change leadership, and project management, to act as an internal consultant and lead/coach improvement projects to support Electric Operations.
  • Partner with clients and peers across Electric Operations to drive process ownership mindset and continuous improvement culture.
  • Act as a change agent to effectively manage the human dynamics of change.
  • Support LSS community across PG&E to build and share best practices.
  • Demonstrate a high level of business acumen.

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum:

 

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Job-related experience, 5 years
  • LSS-Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification

 

Desired:

 

  • Experience in utility operations, or related
  • Change Management Certification or equivalent work experience with demonstrated success
  • Project Management Certification or equivalent work experience with demonstrated success
  • Expert level use of Excel, or other analytical tools
