Department Overview

The Information Technology (IT) organization is structured to support PG&E's core function of providing reliable gas and electric transmission and distribution services that will result in delighted customers, energized employees, rewarded shareholders and environmental leadership. IT functions are to design, develop, operate and maintain the information and telecommunications systems that enable the Company to meet its commitment to customers: Keeping the Lights on and the Gas Flowing, Delivering at a Reasonable Price, Meeting Our Commitments, and Simple and Convenient Options.

 

Position Summary

The Business Analyst, Expert is viewed as an integral strategic partner and business liaison in cloud-based technology decisions who understands business content, procedures, processes and systems for the corresponding business units.  The Business Analyst, Expert is responsible for partnering with IT and business on critical and strategic initiatives to analyze and translate business requirements into detailed requirements and functional specifications.  Performs feasibility analysis, develops project scope, and provides recommendations on the alternative solutions, project strategy and deliverable prioritization, as well as system alternatives or enhancements to current systems.  

 

Job Responsibilities

 

Client Support and Consulting:

  • Provide consulting on Salesforce applications to the client to identify and satisfy the business needs 
  • Analyze end-to-end business processes of moderate to high complexity and information needs in one or more business functional areas 
  • Understand the client’s current and future business environment, effectively anticipate, identify and meet the business needs
  • Identify, propose and influence IT solutions to business problems; negotiate requirements and deliverables with the client
  • Evaluate and document alternatives that will provide the most effective solutions to business problems
  • Anticipate client concerns and questions, and provide timely and professional client-focused communications
  • Support end user training
     
    Business Analysis:
  • Create detailed business requirements, design documentation (with user specifications, process documents, and screen mockups, business use case)
  • Contribute to design sessions with business to ensure all business problems are addressed and strategic goals met
  • Proactively resolve and/or escalate project issues
  • Create knowledge transfer documentation for end-users and administrators
  • Train end-users
  • Troubleshoot customer questions and issues
  • Comply with SOX and other standard process requirements
  • Communicate IT processes to the business clients
  • May perform various additional activities, such as operation and maintenance support, application testing, etc
     
     
    Qualifications
    Minimum:
     
  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Job-related experience, 6 years
     
    Desired:
     
  • Graduate Degree or equivalent experience
  • 10 plus years of job-related experience as IT business analyst with minimum 5 years of experience as Salesforce business analyst.
  • Strong communication, negotiation skills and presentation skills to handle business and technical teams
  • Knowledge and application of principles, concepts, and techniques related to business process design and IT systems development
  • Extensive participation in projects of high complexity or simultaneous participation in multiple projects of medium to high complexity in a leading role
  • Ability to work with different teams across disciplines and levels
  • Data migration from legacy to cloud based systems
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project
  • Salesforce Certified administrator
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrate Salesforce capabilities to solve business problems by implementing Proof of Concept for solutions
  • Configure Salesforce areas like workflows, formula fields, change sets etc
  • Assist functional leads by creating and maintaining objects, fields, field sets, record types, page layouts, permission sets, approval processes, user roles, profiles, groups, sharing rules, workflows, and validation rules
  • Develop and create customized reports and dashboards
  • Detail oriented, analytical, good oral and written communication and presentation skills for work in a collaborative environment
  • Experience in evaluating technical solutions and providing scope and time estimates
  • Ability to create visual representation of Business Processes using swim lane diagrams, business process flows, data flows, functional breakdown structures etc
