We are looking for new talent to significantly enhance our gas emergency preparedness.
The Gas Emergency Preparedness Team works to continuously improve the response and recovery capabilities through a comprehensive preparedness strategy. In doing so, Gas Emergency Preparedness supports PG&E’s Gas Operations Department’s vision to become the safest, most reliable gas company in the Nation.  The Gas Emergency Preparedness team develops emergency plans and procedures which are trained and exercised on an annual basis. In addition, the team manages the GEC team and supports internal PG&E Gas organizations during real-world emergency response.
 

 

Position Summary

The EPC will effectively facilitate gas emergency planning and response with PG&E's gas transmission and distribution organizations. This position will be responsible for special projects which include reviewing and updating policies and procedures. Assist in emergency response training, collectively develop tools and processes for our emergency center’s activations and capture and track after action reports,. Develop and participate in training and exercises to enhance preparedness and response. Make recommendations to PG&E's Gas Emergency Response Plan (GERP), maintain the gas SharePoint intranet site, develop and participate in exercises and drills. Work closely with Public Safety Specialists in the field to identify Best Practices and Lessons Learned from delivery of external first responder workshops, and to identify improvement areas for PG&E's gas emergency response.
• This position will require approximately 60% of travel within PGE's service territory
• This position is subject to emergency on-call status and deployment to emergency centers to support emergency operations, which may require long hours and stressful working conditions.
• This successful candidate will be located in the De Anza, Mission, San Jose, or Stockton area.
 

 

Job Responsibilities

• Provide support for incident management using concepts of the Incident Command System
• Conduct required gas training and exercises to ensure compliance of all appropriate gas personnel. Develop and maintain support materials and simulation tools. Develop a team atmosphere within the work groups.
• Maintain an absolute commitment to safety for self and others (employees/public).
• Support Operations Emergency Centers(OECs) during activations by providing technical expertise in the proper processes and utilization of ICS and emergency processes. Conduct After Action Reviews (AAR) to capture areas of improvement.
• Update emergency phone lists and job aides. Ensure SharePoint site contents reflect current emergency response processes within each area.
• In a team context, explore and implement  innovative solutions that will allow PG&E to improve safety, quality, production, and efficiency as it relates to emergency preparedness. Monitor processes in place and make recommendations for improvements and best practices.
• Participate in an on-call rotation for emergency response.
 

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5 years of experience in emergency preparedness as a first responder or emergency planner including 5 years of experience utilizing the Incident Command System (ICS), California Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS), and/or National Incident Management System (NIMS). Or 5 years working within PGE's Emergency Management Organization (EMO). 
  • This position will require approximately 60% of travel. Able to respond after hours, on weekends, and holidays to emergency incidents. 

 

Desired:

• Bachelor's Degree in emergency management or related field
• Experience as a trainer or facilitator.
• Familiarity with the utilities industry.
• Knowledge of gas systems operation
• Working knowledge of HSEEP, 2017
• Master Exercise Practitioner (MEP)
