Organization Overview

Electric Distribution Operations organization ensures that we are safely maintaining, constructing and operating our electric distribution system. This organization is also responsible for Restoration, System Operations and the execution of our Corrective Maintenance, New Business, and Emergency Response.


One of the departments within Electric Distribution Operations is the Work Plan and Resources/Program Management Dept. One portion of this department provides visibility and oversight of the jobs and the dependency statuses, works closely with the leads from the five key dependency work groups (e.g., permits, land, environmental, FAA, and joint pole) to ensure applicable dependencies are identified and cleared on-time for all upcoming construction work; and helps resolve questions from the Field Operations construction work groups.


Position Summary

Support the Electric Distribution Operations organization with ensuring five key dependencies (e.g., permits, land, environmental, FAA, and joint pole) are identified and cleared on-time for all upcoming construction work.



  • Conducts research and data analysis such as orders in SAP to validate true readiness
  • Compile and prepare reports related to dependency management
  • Works closely with the leads of the dependency groups and various electric operations teams to resolve day-to-day operations problems and smooth Order progression
  • Partner with Estimating and Construction to create innovative ways to identify and manage dependencies effectively
  • Work with the planning & scheduling and construction teams to effectively manage critical work stuck due to dependencies
  • Provide updates at weekly team meetings
  • Identifies, analyzes and improves existing business processes within a department to meet new goals and objectives.
  • Conducts focus groups and research to support dependency management process improvement
  • Presents findings and makes recommendations to management or others within organization.


The successful intern will have the opportunity to lead and/or support activities as described above working with a team of analysts, planners and schedulers.  Additionally, the intern will gain knowledge of the larger Electric Distribution Operations organization through the work they will be performing.



Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earning a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related engineering field or Construction Project Management. Students must be continuing education towards degree during and/or after internship
  • Must have a valid driver’s license or obtain one at least 30 days prior to start date


  • 3.0 GPA or greater in both cumulative GPA and major GPA
  • Engineering experience in utilities, municipalities, construction, or engineering consultation
  • Project management experience or knowledge
  • Ability to work in a team environment and support fellow team members
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills 
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Takes initiative and can work independently with minimal direction
  • Strong excel skills and knowledge of data bases and use of data
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools – specifically Excel or Access
