Organization Overview

The men and women of Electric Operations ensure the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E’s electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.


Within Electric Operations, Major Projects and Programs is responsible for designing, project managing, and constructing large distribution and transmission capital electrical projects and programs; including reliability, capacity, and system hardening.


Position Summary

A critical part of Major Projects and Programs is leveraging technology to ensure visibility into complete, accurate, and reliable resource information in real time to support critical business needs of Construction Management.


The Business Operations Intern will assess Electric Operations data flows and identify process improvement opportunities that will advance performance through safety improvements, quality enhancements, productivity gains, and cost reductions. The candidate will be able to aggregate and validate data as well as quantify, develop, and report on process and performance improvement activities. The individual will improve Electric Operations Construction Management resource planning infrastructure and capabilities.


The successful intern will have the opportunity to lead and/or support activities as described above while working closely with a team of experienced professionals. Additionally, the intern may utilize customized software and/or workforce management systems to manage resource plan data and may be involved in driving the adoption of new systems and related processes across the department. The incumbents strive to keep the resource plan balanced with costs and resource availability. The successful candidate will also gain knowledge of the larger Electric Operations organization through the work they will be performing.



Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earning a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Business Administration or comparable quantitative field. Student must be continuing their education towards degree during and/or after internship.


  • 3.0 GPA or greater in both cumulative GPA and major GPA
  • Intermediate or Advanced level use of Excel, or other analytical tools
  • SAP experience
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills 
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to work in a team environment and support fellow team members
  • Takes initiative and can work independently with minimal direction
