Department Overview

Gas Order Management and Controls department has a fiduciary responsibility for improving and ensuring governance, controls, alignment of enterprise & organizational excellence by maintaining a healthy end-to-end asset to order lifecycle management, closure and controls.  This group will primarily provide technical and analytical expertise for all work types within Gas Operations for healthy order compliance, quality assurance & controls to comply with SOX and auditing such as proper settlement rules, alignment of work progress to task and order management, proper records documentation and appropriate closure to mitigate financial risk to customers or shareholders.


Position Summary:

Business Analysts are responsible for research, data analysis, budgeting, forecasting and reporting in support of business decision making, business strategy and business operations. May also be involved in business process improvement, quality control and special projects and other initiatives.


Responsibilities typically include many or all the following:

  • Data Analysis: Compiles and analyzes data. May develop and/or maintain data models for what-if analysis and for other business purposes.
  • Metrics and Reporting: Develops and tracks business metrics. Develops and maintains standard, custom and ad-hoc reports.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Develops or works with budgets and forecasts.
  • Research: Researches best practices; develops internal and external benchmarks in support of business decisions.
  • Quality Assurance & Business Process Improvement: May perform quality assurance and business process improvement activities in support of the business. Activities may include developing, managing or coordinating performance or quality assessment, business process re-engineering, change management, communication and training.
  • Project Management: Lead projects, determining scope, budget, timeframes, forming teams, assigning tasks, managing resources and issues.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor of Science in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering or related discipline or equivalent work experience required.
  • 2 years of related work experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with SAP Order, Task and Notification Management, PowerPlant, P6 Scheduling, Heavybid, Unifier, MS Excel, Access, PowerPoint; SAP ECC, WRM, AO, BI, BW & Other Modules and Others
  • Experience and knowledge with SOX Compliance & Auditing
  • Experience and Knowledge of the Lifecycle of Order, Task & Schedule management
  • Experience and Knowledge with Job Estimate, Settlement Rule and Asset Registry
  • Advanced statistical, modeling, metrics performance and process improvement knowledge
  • Broad knowledge of different analytical methods, approaches and tactics
  • Qualitative and quantitative analytical skills to justify any business changes and understanding of risk mitigation
  • Strong presentation and communication skills to deliver findings and recommendations to various levels of management
  • Project management & Controls skills to lead project teams
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team Adaptable to changing business conditions and ambiguity


  • Performs & Process Order & Task Management functions
  • Implement & Generate SOX Compliance Settlement Rules & Order Reporting and Metrics
  • Supports system changes & improvements to ensure proper order management controls
  • Supports process improvements and tools to mitigate cancellation and write-off risk
  • Collects data to identify root cause of problems. Develops & Measures performance against process requirements.
  • Aligns improvement to performance shortfalls. Surveys and analyzes best practices for techniques and processes 
  • Determines data needs, collects data, selects from different analytical techniques to conduct root cause analysis and determine issues 
  • Designs and maintains operational tools, reports, visualizations, dashboards, metrics, etc. 
  • Projects are moderately to highly complex and require selecting methods, approaches and tactics to resolve problems and obtain solutions 
  • Creates analysis that accurately describes the state of the business 
  • Creates complex and automated data routines and processes for reporting and data delivery ensuring accurate data transformation 
  • Design data analysis to achieve business objectives, process data, analyze data, write clear and concise data findings 
  • Develops and uses metrics to develop recommendations related to business strategy and operations. Presents findings and recommendations to leaders.
  • Supports power users with creation of queries and analysis and reporting.
