Organization Overview

The Diablo Canyon IT Department maintains and develops business applications for PG&E’s Nuclear Power Generation.  This organization is highly regulated entity and is subject to special security requirements and restrictions.


Position Summary

As an IT Analyst Support Intern for the team, you will be assigned support tasks associated with a legacy data archival project.  This project is a two-year project and your role will be to help the team during analysis activities.  This will require you to read code and research data touch points.  It will include analyzing code, analyzing data and developing documentation associated with your findings.  You may also be involved in preparing and processing requirements to determine appropriate long-term archival solutions for quality and non-quality records. You may write reports and query data based on business needs.  You will require skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio.  You will complete these tasks working in conjunction with senior programmers.


The successful intern will have the opportunity to support activities as described above working with a team of experienced programmers and project managers. Additionally, the intern will gain knowledge and experience working on large projects and complex business requirements.


The successful intern will be required to pass a background check through the Department of Justice, fingerprinting and a psychological evaluation test.  The successful intern will be subject to fitness for duty requirements and random drug testing.



Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earning a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical field of study including Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Mathematics, or Engineering. Students must be continuing education towards degree during and/or after internship.


  • Programming with a high-level language like Python, C#, etc.
  • Experience working in Windows / Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and Visio.
  • Experience working with a database like MS SQL Server or Access
  • Ability to work in a team environment and support fellow team members
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Takes initiative and can work independently with minimal direction
