Department Overview


Electric Operations ensures the delivery of clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy to nearly 16 million people in Northern and Central California. The Electric Operations Team is responsible for ensuring the electric grid's reliability and resiliency through the ongoing maintenance and operations of PG&E's 100,000 miles of distribution lines and over 18,000 miles of Transmission lines. Coworkers in Electric Operations actively engage in the Lean Methodology through the use of visual management in operating reviews to cross-functionally identify and solve problems, and create standard work. By working together as One Electric. One Team. We are delivering for our hometowns. Electric Operations is comprised of approximately 6,500 coworkers.

Position Summary


The Electric Operations Distribution Maintenance and Construction leadership manages teams directly or indirectly involved in maintaining or building parts of the service territory distribution grid. Supervisors and Superintendents may oversee teams working projects throughout the services territory. The Distribution leaders provide safe and reliable electric service while maintaining compliance with the California Public Utility Commission (CPUC) General Orders, all safety regulations and other regulatory requirements.

 

The leaders fully implement safety best practices and manage employee’s accountability. Leaders must ensure full compliance with the Injury & Illness Prevention Program.

 

Position will require approximately 50% of travel time in work schedule. 

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory (San Jose).


PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

 

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum:$129,000
Bay Area Maximum: $207,000


This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

 


Job Responsibilities
•    Embodies and leads with safe behaviors in all aspects of work performance. Promotes a speak up, listen up, and follow up culture.
•    Facilitates or leads weekly team meetings/safety tailboards. Conducts training as needed.
•    Regularly visits work sites (at least 50% of time) to monitor progress and employee performance.
•    Ensures the customers' needs and expectations are met. Provides clear, professional, and proactive communication with customers in a variety of field situations.
•    Ensures maintenance and construction work is completed safely, on time, and within budget and quality expectations.
•    Completes and maintains all work documentation or reporting.
•    Identifies and reacts to complex field decisions, utilizing technical knowledge and experience to move forward quickly, considering cost, risk, safety, quality, and customer impact.
•    Effectively utilizes resources by monitoring crew productivity.
•    Builds constructive peer relationships and treats direct reports equitably. Provides positive and constructive feedback to others.
•    Responds to emergencies and outages. May serve as a field leader (e.g. District Storm Room Lead, Task Force Lead) in OEC/EOC major emergency activations.
•    Supervises staff, including bargaining unit employees, to accomplish results through recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, and rewards and recognition.

 

 

Qualifications-

Minimum Qualifications:  
•    High-School Diploma or GED
•    Must obtain a California Driver’s License by first day of employment
•    Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in engineering, manufacturing, construction, field maintenance operations, or related electric utility experience


Desired Qualifications:
•    Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or other related field
•    Previous experience in the electric utility industry. Journeyman lineman experience preferred.
o    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (Desired)
o    Knowledge of the California Public Utility Commission General Orders (GO) 95, 128, 165.
o    Project management skills. T-300 Supervisors must have strong project management skills to oversee larger construction projects.
o    General computer skills in Word, Excel and Outlook.
o    Customer services orientation, including communication skills, initiative and problem solving.
o    Knowledge of various bargaining unit contracts.
o    Demonstrated ability to uphold safety standards and participate in continuous process improvement
o    Experience leading cross-functional teams and/or supervising bargaining unit personnel
o    Ability to influence a team to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast paced dynamic environment
o    Experience using business metrics to motivate and influence performance
o    Extensive leadership skills including developing and conducting presentations to employees and management
o    Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
