Department Overview

 

Financial Forecasting & Revenue Requirements Department delivers enterprise-level financial and revenue forecasting and analysis.  Within the Department, the Expense Recovery team plays a critical role in PG&E’s rate case proceedings and overall recovery of Operations and Maintenance (O&M) and Administrative and General (A&G) cost data under the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) jurisdiction.

 

The team is a thought leader and a dynamic business partner in strategic ratemaking decisions and are responsible for ensuring that the Company is in compliance with FERC and CPUC reporting requirements. The team is responsible for preparing analytics, insights, and recommendations that enable informed decision making by PG&E senior management.  It is a dynamic and exciting environment driven by internal strategy, regulatory requirements, cost of service analysis and external market/environmental forces.

 

Position Summary

 

We are seeking a highly motivated, capable Supervisor to work in our Expense Recovery group. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your analytical and leadership skills and work in a cross-functional environment where you can make a contribution and be recognized.

 

The Supervisor should have strong analytical skills and be customer oriented and self-directed.  He or she should have excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to present information in a clear and persuasive manner. 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Lead and work cross-functionally to support the regulatory forecast for the General Rate Case, the Gas Transmission & Storage Rate Case and other regulatory proceedings;
  • Review and support the revenue requirement forecast for major rate cases;
  • Lead complex or analytically intensive research for complex regulatory issues, identify relationships and linkages to other regulatory decisions, and review and approve results and conclusions;
  • Act as a witness for regulatory proceedings including writing sections of testimony and develop work papers and exhibits;
  • Act as a witness assistant for complex regulatory proceedings;
  • Ensure cross-training for all employees to facilitate knowledge transfer and provides training and coaching to team members;
  • Lead team of analysts, managing their day-to-day activities and reviewing and approving priorities and work products;
  • Lead highly complex types of forecasting, cost recovery, rate, and revenue requirements analysis. Solve problems of large impact, scope and complexity with few precedents or standards requiring integration of information from a variety of sources.
  • Review and approve development of processes, guidelines, standards, and models while leading continuous improvement projects that include partnering with peers on process improvements and controls
  • Supervise staff to drive performance and accomplish results through effective recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, and rewards and recognition.

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • BS/BA degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, Engineering or related discipline or equivalent related experience
  • 6 years of related experience
  • Expert Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
  • Strong understanding of PG&E’s business model in order to perform cost of service forecasting and analysis for rate case filings and management decision support
  • Strong knowledge of the case management procedures and process.

 

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, SEC and FERC requirements
  • MS/MBA degree in Business, Economics, Engineering or related discipline or equivalent related experience
  • Expert knowledge of Utility ratemaking
  • Thorough understanding of PG&E’s business model in order to perform cost of service forecasting and analysis for rate case filings and management decision support.
