Department Overview

Electric Operations ensures the delivery of clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy to nearly 16 million people in Northern and Central California. The Electric Operations Team is responsible for ensuring the electric grid's reliability and resiliency through the ongoing maintenance and operations of PG&E's 100,000 miles of distribution lines and over 18,000 miles of Transmission lines. Coworkers in Electric Operations actively engage in the Lean Methodology through the use of visual management in operating reviews to cross-functionally identify and solve problems, and create standard work. By working together as One Electric. One Team. We are delivering for our hometowns. Electric Operations is comprised of approximately 6,500 coworkers.

 

Position Summary

Support groups provide administrative and project support by working in collaboration with various workgroups to provide quality and timely services in a manner that improves service levels for our external/internal client base. Support Services Supervisors oversee the day-to-day operations and management of support staff. General activities overseen may include: meeting logistics, mail services, data entry, processing orders, department performance/status reporting, document management, ordering equipment or supplies, time reporting, coordination of department training, processing expense reports, or contract administration. 

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of the job posting. This salary range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​ This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

 

Bay Area –  $98,000 - $134,200

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Creates, promotes and manages a safety-first work environment and culture.
  • Supervises the day-to-day operations of the workgroup in alignment with organizational goals and objectives
  • Organizes multiple assignments, sometimes of a complex nature or involving competing priorities, to produce work products that are accurate, thorough, and on time. Effectively leads team efforts to meet deadlines and implement solutions.
  • Assures proper office staffing, coordinates training of new/relief staff, tracks apprentice programs and classification specific training.
  • Works collaboratively with team members to identify, assess, and provide feedback to the organization to improve work processes, identify gaps, and ensure procedures are in compliance with company policies and standards. Assists in coordinating and implementing new tools, office procedures and/or work practices to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Develops strong working relationships with internal/external customers and business partners where operations, service, support or other inter-dependencies exists.
  • Prepares and distributes monthly and quarterly Department reports. Ensures proper preparation, distribution and security of confidential reports and documents.
  • Monitors department budgets, expenses and variances for assigned location. Monitors and communicates overall performance through various metrics and indicators.
  • May manage office equipment inventory.
  • Collaborates with department peers to ensure work priorities are appropriately assigned and support functions being provided meet expectations and business needs 

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

  • High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
  • Administrative experience, or related, 5 years
  • May require travel approximately 10-30% of the time with occasional overnight stays.

 

Desired:

 

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
  • Leadership experience, 2 years
  • Clerical support role experience, 2 years
  • Knowledge of utility industry safety practices, requirements and compliance.
  • Working knowledge of clerical and physical bargaining-unit contracts.
  • Working knowledge of SAP and other systems relevant to the line of business
  • Leadership skills to influence positive behaviors and work priorities
  • Experience implementing change management activities within workgroups
  • Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills to effectively build relationships and manage subordinates.
  • Adaptability to adjust to changing business needs, conditions and work responsibilities to achieve successful solutions and results.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office.
