Complex Billing is a critical component of everyday customer care and business operations. Our goal around customer service is to enhance the customer experience by improving billing timeliness and accuracy for our large commercial, industrial, agricultural and net energy metering customers. And finally, our goal around employee satisfaction is to attract and retain high performing employees by making Complex Billing a department that values, supports, and develops its most important asset.

 

Position Summary

Facilitates PG&E's business vision by improving service quality, increasing capabilities through the development/deployment of core business productivity application functionality, implementing new technology, reducing costs, increasing productivity, and facilitating organizational and business effectiveness through enabling technologies. Provides leadership for those involved in the development, design, testing, implementation, maintenance, support, and operations of MV-90 and Powersprings applications supporting data retrieval processes with non SmartMeter systems.

 

Actively manage the day-to-day activities of 8-10 Data Analysts.   Actively manage and maintain exception handling processes in multiple applications. Oversee the execution and planning of overall maintenance and monitoring of the applications, including tool development, critical software and OS patching, support of IT Risk Management and Disaster Recovery programs, for all test and production environments.

  • Establishes Development Plans for staff
  • Communicates and champions the application(s) requirements necessary to execute the business priorities
  • Ensures compliance to Standards/regulations and governance processes
  • Continuously monitors emerging tools and technologies to assure the most appropriate technology is being proposed and deployed. Contributes to continuous improvement of monitoring and processes.
  • Develops and manages to a set of meaningful metrics to demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of the team on a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis.
  • Ensures team is focused on optimum performance to meet business requirements.
  • Highly collaborative, able to work cross-functionally; possessing the ability to forge relationships and partner effectively. Develops relationships across IT, with the goal of growing meaningful relationships that will facilitate collaborations and communications.
  • Provides technical guidance to team.
  • Leads discussions applying system knowledge to diagnose and resolve challenging application and data related problems. 
  • Leads discussions with team to review, assess business impact and IT operational impact of proposed changes and updates to the application database, interfaces, daily operational schedule, hardware, LAN/WAN network and network/firewall/router components, JMS/WebServices/ESB, scripting, and operating system.
  • Act as support/running interference/prioritizing/liaison with business clients.
  • Allocates assignments appropriately based on knowledge of concepts, principles or practices in a specific discipline.
  • Actively participate in department on-call rotation for weekend and after-hours support.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience in computer science, information systems, engineering or another related field
  • 5 years of Job related experience

 

Desired:

  • 3 years of supervisory or technical lead experience managing/providing technical guidance to Applications/Database analysts working on Unix/Oracle, Windows/SQL Server platforms
  • Billing experience
  • Experience using CC&B
  • Experience acting as escalation point for critical operational issues
  • Excellent computer skills; must be fluent in all PG&E-standard Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent communications, analytical, organizational, and time-management skills
  • Ability to effectively work as a team member
    Knowledge of Access or relational databases
  • Experience working with interval meters and interval data both Gas and Electric
  • Knowledge of and experience with Direct Access, Community Choice Aggregation, EDI867, and VEE rules.
