Department Overview

The Economic Analysis team’s mission is to be the primary source for financial consulting and economic strategy to our internal clients, and to drive decision making through data-driven, insightful economic analysis.  We will accomplish this mission by providing timely and accurate financial insights through development of high-performance analysis and clear communication.


The Economic Analysis team works cross functionally with all major lines of business and focuses on high-level strategic decision making.  The team also develops alternatives analysis studies for major projects over $20M.


Position Summary

As a key member of the Economic Analysis team, the Expert Strategic Analyst will learn and apply knowledge of financial strategy, regulatory analytics, applied economics, and advanced modeling.  They will analyze strategic questions from senior leadership from across the organization and provide meaningful insights to inform and drive decision making.




  • Responsible for timely and effective resolution of corporate financial issues and complex analysis.
  • Develops financial statement impacts on company decisions and helps to analyze corporate strategy with the possibility of mergers and acquisitions.
  • Creates and maintains strategic financial models for quick turnaround of leadership inquiries.
  • Drives change in the organization and is a champion of company initiatives as appropriate.
  • Interacts and consults with business leaders and partners to convey information for executive decision-making.
  • Leads special projects and initiatives.
  • Contributes to establishing standards and drives improvement within existing processes.
  • Develops processes as needed.
  • May act as a team lead and provide direction to less experienced employees.
  • Uses existing financial models and/or develops new financial models including econometric and statistical models for analysis and reporting.





  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Engineering, or related discipline; or equivalent work experience
  • Requires a minimum of four years of financial, accounting, or business-related experience, including advanced analytical experience.



  • Background
    • Master of Business Administration
    • Technical / Financial experience consisting of Finance, Engineering, Accounting, or Consulting experience in the Energy Industry
    • Utility and/or regulatory experience
  • Behavioral Skills
    • Ability to present complex data and findings to internal and external stakeholders, regulatory agencies, etc
    • Apply demonstrated knowledge and skill to resolve complex problems
    • Ability to solicit and integrate information from a variety of sources
    • Ability to effectively communicate and present an idea
    • A learning attitude, ready to pick up skills as needed
  • Technical Skills
    • Knowledge of foundational financial concepts such as discount rate, valuation, time cost of money, depreciation, and financial forecasting
    • Able to navigate financial statements
    • Significant experience using Excel
    • Understanding and experience with Regulatory finance, specifically with regulated utilities
    • A learning attitude, ready to pick up skills as needed
