Department Overview

PG&E’s Information Technology (IT) organization is a unified organization comprised of various departments which collaborate effectively to deliver high quality technology solutions.

 

The Asset and Work Management (AWM) team is an enterprise team that is responsible for working collaboratively with the lines of business (e.g., Gas Operations, Electric Operations, etc.) to implement consumer grade custom and COTS solutions across various user groups (e.g., field users, office workers, etc.).

 

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Deploying best-in-class / rapid delivery capability for solutions across all products
  • Simplifying, improving, and standardizing business work management processes

 

The AWM team consists of a staff of highly skilled professionals working together to produce solutions following an agile methodology. We are a “start-up” department within IT and building a team of driven and creative software engineers. We take the time to understand our partners’ needs and translate those into solutions that delight our users. Our goal is to deliver products with intuitive user experience that will improve PG&E employees’ safety, productivity and overall well-being.

 

Position Summary

In this position, you will lead a team which is developing a leading-edge field solutions to shape how PG&E digitally transforms its field workforce to provide safe, affordable and reliable energy to customers.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Engineering, another relevant field or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 8 or more years of experience in programming/systems analysis, project management, and/or IT strategy planning or other related area
  • Minimum of 5 or more years of experience managing software development teams comprised of 5 or more engineers

 

Desired:

  • M.S. or M.B.A. degree in Business Administration, Computer Science or another relevant field of study
  • Minimum 10 or more years of experience in object-oriented full-stack software development
  • Well-versed and experienced in agile development methodologies
  • Strong technical knowledge of enterprise mobile technology landscape, development tools and technologies including Xcode, Swift, as well as Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, CSS, HTML4, RDBMS
  • Ability to quickly learn both technical and functional knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written
  • Able to present ideas and plans clearly to both technical and functional audiences

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead a dynamic team of software engineers to build next-generation field solutions
  • Partner with product owners and feature stakeholders to determine scope, provide regular updates, and elicit feedback
  • Work and collaborate with other IT teams to provide resources and foundational technology needs
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and support to direct report staff, for both technical and non-technical issues
  • Ensure high productivity of team members. Provide support for their career growth and personal development
  • Continuously improve software engineering and application support processes, working closely with the AWM Leadership team, to enable the next generation of field solutions
  • Provide estimates and initial assessment for proposed development tasks and features
  • Track and report progress of the project against key milestones
  • Ensure on-time and high-quality delivery of feature commitments
  • Provide the vision for AWM field applications technical landscape, help devise the strategy implementing the technology architecture, and ensure successful execution to deliver software to production on time with high quality
