Department Overview

The HR Investigations team is responsible for conducting investigations into allegations of misconduct as defined by the Company’s Code of Conduct, and may include allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other violations.  The department ensures that an objective review is taken of allegations and takes as a point of pride ensuring that employees that raise issues feel as if their concerns were treated seriously, looked into objectively and concluded fairly.

 

Position Summary

The Senior HR investigator is responsible for reviewing complaints, and planning, conducting and communicating results of investigations into alleged misconduct. The role of the investigator here at PG&E is to be a neutral fact finder that conducts investigations in a thoughtful, thorough and objective manner.  At the conclusion of the investigation, the Investigator will complete a written report and communicate outcomes with critical stakeholders. This is a critical role for the business. How investigations are conducted directly supports employee’s confidence in a Speak Up culture at PG&E.

 

This position is based in San Francisco at our General Office.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • The Investigator is responsible for conducting intake, analyzing the allegation, developing an investigation plan, conducting the investigation, completing a written report, communicating an appropriate summary of the investigation outcome(s) to relevant parties, and maintaining accurate and thorough records in the appropriate systems.  Duties include interviewing complainant(s), witnesses, and subject(s), as well as identifying and collecting relevant documentation.  There may also be a need to consult with appropriate Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).  Throughout the process, it will be critical to document interviews, process steps, and other investigation findings in accordance with the Company’s investigation process. 

 

  • The Investigator may collaborate with the Compliance and Ethics, Human Resources Business Partners/Consultants, Law, Labor Relations, Corporate Security and other stakeholder departments to complete investigations.

 

  • As a member of the broader team, Investigators may also have other assignments, such as conducting and developing training, developing policies and/or procedures related to complaint investigations, and partnering with colleagues or other departments on special projects. 

 
Qualifications
Minimum:

  • High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
  • Minimum 6 years of progressive experience in employee relations/complaint investigations or related experience

 
Desired:

  • Bachelor's degree in related area or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Advanced degree in related area (e.g., J.D.) preferred
  • HR Professional designation (e.g., SHRM-CSP).
  • Experience working in employment law
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and regulations (e.g. DOL, EEOC, Title IX, FMLA/CFRA, ADA, etc.).
  • Proficiency with MS Office and ability to learn case management data base system
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret and dissect complex issues. 
  • Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with other departments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; with ability to listen well, demonstrate sensitivity to all parties
  • Strong written communication skills employed to write clear, concise and logical reports
  • Strong oral communication skills to effectively explain information to stakeholders
  • Ability to effectively interact with a culturally diverse workforce
