Department Overview

In Customer Care, we are focused on delivering the desired customer experience for each of our customers. Everything we do starts with the customer and our information about the customer. Within Customer Care, PG&E’s Customer Energy Solutions department (CES) is responsible for designing, implementing and administering customer demand side management programs, including energy efficiency, distributed generation, demand response, and rate programs that help PG&E customers in Northern and Central California manage the energy use of their homes and businesses. PG&E has been a national leader in energy efficiency since 1976 and continues to recruit and develop individuals to carry the CES Department’s legacy of effective energy efficiency programs on into the future.

 

The PG&E CES Energy Efficiency (EE) group focuses on inspiring and empowering our customers to eliminate unnecessary energy use, reduce their carbon footprint and save money. We manage a diverse portfolio of products and strategic programs that expertly deliver the right solutions across all customer segments, sizes, geographic locations and engagement preferences. As the nation’s largest EE program, PG&E is helping to transform markets, set building codes and appliance standards and be the marker by which all other utilities are measured.

 

This position is within PG&E's Residential and Partnership Programs team in the Customer Energy Solutions Energy Efficiency group. The team manages energy efficiency programs that serve residential customers, local governments, and hard to reach customers.

 

Position Summary

The Residential and Partnership Programs team is seeking a skilled Senior Program Manager to support the implementation of energy efficiency programs, including overseeing contracts with vendors, improving program operations, and helping PG&E produce a cost-effective energy efficiency portfolio.

 

The successful candidate will have experience managing programs and/or vendors, reaching desired outcomes of complex programs/projects, supporting key relationships and communicating with multiple stakeholders (internal and external), and complying with regulatory requirements.

 

The candidate must be collaborative, results-oriented, detail-oriented, and accountable. Excellent communication skills and the ability to present information and issues in clear and concise manner are key. The candidate must also be adaptable to dynamic and changing environments, and the ability to organize and facilitate groups effectively to drive initiatives forward.

 

Up to 25% travel within PG&E service territory.

 

Job Responsibilities

• Oversee implementation of complex energy efficiency programs delivered by third-party vendors

• Facilitate and engage stakeholders with diverse perspectives in order to increase effectiveness and impact of energy efficiency programs

• Manage contracts to enable cost-effective energy efficiency savings

• Maintaining accountability of vendors

• Forecast energy savings, monitor financial accruals and conduct regular program reporting to assess and track program goals

• Proactively assess performance of programs and recommend solutions to leadership to drive towards a cost-effective energy efficiency portfolio

• Support regulatory compliance to ensure requirements are met for filings, data requests, and other requests

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

Bachelors degree or equivalent experience

6 years of job-related experience (specifically program management experience to include any combination of contract management, leading process improvements, managing performance of vendors, or equivalent work experience)
 
Desired:
• MBA or equivalent graduate degree
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in energy efficiency
• Experience working with local governments or residential customers
• Advanced knowledge of program management
• Experience with solving moderate to complex problems, summarize findings and provide business insight
• Experience with current utility and energy industry issues
• Experience with customer service and other types of relationship management
• Experience with using Salesforce or customer management software to manage programs and projects
• Ability to communicate with credibility, confidence and clarity for all types of audiences

• Ability to identify and maintain strong working relationships with strategic partners
