The New Revenue Development (NRD) organization is a fun, entrepreneurial,

Customer-focused team in Customer Care whose purpose is to advance innovative uses of PG&E assets and expertise. This is a great opportunity to become part of a team that develops and sells new products and services that can lower rates for PG&E’s customers, drive customer satisfaction, and generate positive net revenue for PG&E shareholders.

 

Position Summary

The Senior Product Manager will oversee the overall lifecycle of emerging non-tariff products and gain considerable exposure to all aspects of PG&E’s operations. The successful candidate will be managing the Intellectual Property program and existing pilots related to software tools that help PG&E customers measure and analyze their energy consumption, or simply run their operations more efficiently. S/he must be able to learn quickly, since product opportunities may touch on any range of PG&E’s assets. Furthermore, this job will require evaluating new ideas, researching market potential, and developing new product offerings that create the most value for our customers and our company.  

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Identify, build and maintain strong working relationships with strategic programs and partners that drive innovation within the company
  • Collaborate with lines of business who are offering NRD products to customers or interact with other utilities who may be interested in licensing PG&E’s inventions
  • Identify and develop business cases for new products that can be offered by the NRD team
  • Partner with legal to ensure all patents are up to date and there are no infringements from other vendors  
  • Modify product offerings according to market driven forces to ensure continuous relevance and success
  • Identify new partners, technologies and delivery channels that result in better product performance
  • Create business development strategies for product commercialization
  • Demonstrate leadership on company innovation and motivate other teams to support non-tariff products and services
  • Provide recommendations to leadership on how to promote growth that maximizes benefits to customers and the company
  • Work independently, with limited supervision or guidance

 

Qualifications

Minimum

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 6+ years of work experience with either Project, Product or Program Management
  • Experience interacting with employees at all levels of an organization

 

Desired

  • Knowledge and experience with product management
  • Ability to create business cases for products that will need to compete in commercial settings
  • Ability to learn quickly, whether the subject matter is new segments, new products, or new business models
  • Familiar with intellectual property law and commercialization options
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Adaptable to changing environments, shifting priorities, demands and timelines and ability to learn new concepts quickly
